Does anyone buy videos @ Car boots anymore? I have a whol box full of them from freecycle and various places. Do you think they would sell at 25p each? Some good films there.

I haven't done my first car boot yet, looking to do one before end of this month though.

    :(
This is really sad to read.
I WOULD buy videos at 20p each. Definitely! Though you're completely missing the point of freecycle. Taking things from people on there to sell on? It's disgusting in my opinion. I really hope there aren't many people using freecyle in this way.
I have collected lots of videos from there and bought many from charity shops. Not to sell on, but because I like watching them!
If you got them from freecycle, and you don't want them anymore, you should put them BACK on freecycle :/
  • Hi everyone! Done a car boot sales this morning with my sister. Was held in a massive field and hundreds of people turned up to grab a bargain. Took all of your advice on here about what to do when arriving - so many thanks - no one perstered us really untill we were ready!!

    Anyway, we made a fantastic....£141.60!!!
We were both very happy with that.

I think the policies vary from group to group. My freecycle group allows people to ask for items to sell on but also asks them to declare up front.

As a giver I often write in my ad that things would be suitable for a boot sale to encourage someone to collect it. Videos really don't sell for much these days so they only work as a box load to browse through alongside a whole heap of other bootable items :)
  • Carboots are getting really popular in the West Yorkshire Area, With Dewsbury, Shawcross, Bingley, Leeds Bradford Airport, Crossgreen, Otley etc.

Did Shawcross Sunday - 600 cars packed in.

People are realising now they can get just as good items at a boot sale for alot cheaper, And make instant cash for a few hours work on a sunday.

Some boots are even all year round now in the winter.

    Rufforth is a good one.

Does anyone else do York on a Saturday, I enjoy it but I think it finishes next month?

    Regards.

done my 1st car boot sale today and am pretty unhappy with the way it was run, i paid £5 for the table in which me and my sister shared (for all she took with her!). anyway told to be there for 10am to setup for noon start, made next to nothing only to hear that the person running it did next to no advertising. it was a beautiful day today and plenty of folk where around but not aware of the sales! spoke to a few other sellers who where also unhappy, one fella even left after an hour! all in all i made about £15 for 4 hours as they opened the doors to anyone at 10am rather than keep the folk who knew waiting till noon! unhappy for suffering to someone else's incompetence but what can you do?!
    money.....gimmie gimmie gimmie!!!!

I went to York racecourse once buying but it didn't do much for me, I hear it is better for selling though.

My main boots are leeds bradford and otley and any other local ones that are on every now and again.

I live in Guiseley so they are quite local but leeds bradford finishes this sunday so i'l need to start going further afield (i'm thinking rufforth as its a nice drive) - wheresabout do you hail from?
  • I've not yet done a car boot sale, but i'm hoping to do one soon. Do you think October is a bad time because of weather etc, is it worth waiting til next year or is there still money to be made?

    Thanks

Generally speaking it is probably better to do one earlier in the season but if its a clear morning and your chosen boot usually has a good turnout then go for it - the clutter won't shift itself!

We always do a huge clearout during the october half term and end up taking two cars down to sell, we have always done well especially with selling toys as people will have started looking for christmas presents. The last one we did like this we made 335.00 so this then paid for everyone elses christmas presents. We are doing this again in a weeks time as its good to get rid of the clutter before christmas.

Forgot to add that the one we sell at is on all year round and on concrete so we just hope that its not going to rain.
If you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.

DMP start jan 2012 hopefull finish march 2020

Weight to loose 49lbs done of 91lbs finally sat in a pair of size 14 jeans and top for the first time in 14 years :j
  • Coming from Kingston on Thames - Anyone know of a good boot sale for selling this coming weekend? Preferably on hard standing if not actually under cover!

Now where have I put my hand warmers:D
