I got refused having transferred £1750 for the past three months.
Yes, I opened a Bank A/c and transferred £1,750 for three months, then went for the loooong [STRIKE]interrogation[/STRIKE] telephone call. I did get the Advance A/c but the fact that I have held an account with them for over two months means I don't qualify for the switching bonus. Never mind, I was only there for the 6% regular saver anyway.

There's no monthly fee & you need to keep it open while you want the ISA

Cheers sounds good to me! I was only intending on closing it as the member of staff on the phone told me it had a £10 monthly fee.

I'll get it sorted either over the weekend or next week.

    Thanks again

For all those of you opening new Advance accounts, HSBC are also offering £25 if you open a credit card in the next month and use it once in the first 60 days.

    T+Cs here. General link here

For those planning to open an Advance account, applying for a credit card at the same time will mean they'll only do one credit check on you.

I think they've gone mad with too much money!

Got a letter through the post saying I've been rejected. Never been rejected for a current account before so I'm rather baffled.

Didn't say why you are rejected? I'm still waiting for my letter. By the look of it, I'll probably be rejected too!

Nope, no explanation. Just offered me a basic account instead.

I might call them to double check they have my details correct but otherwise it's possible they're just rejecting people with lots of current accounts or something.

How can they know how many current accounts you have got? Correct me if I am wrong, but a credit check only tells the company if you are a good risk or not.
    Cheers!!!

I take it you've never seen a copy of your credit report. All your bank accounts are listed (although lenders searching are not given the provider names), along with credit cards, loans, etc.

Advance account finally opened yesterday but it did take an hour and a half in branch with all the paperwork I could muster.

They had requested an original bank statement showing a "resent" [sic] salary credit. My salary goes into Natwest who send me a three-monthly paper statement, with the latest running to mid-May. There was some consternation that the latest salary credit shown was therefore the end of April, so possibly not recent enough, though they eventually accepted it.

They also felt the need to copy the entire 30 page statement, not just the page(s) showing salary credits. A little intrusive in my opinion, but the guy doing it was very nice and polite and so I didn't object.

New copies were also taken of my passport, council tax bill, payslip and P60, although I had already provided these on previous branch visits. There were lots of questions on my job, pay, bonus scheme etc.

I did get offered and given the new credit card with the £25 cash back though, so not entirely a waste of time.

I have double figures of other current accounts so that did not seem to be an issue in the end.
