don't bother. I think their internal scoring rejects anyone with more than one other account with another bank. I meet all requirements but failed in my attempt to upgrade from the current account to the advance account. Go with another bank. I'm going to leave too. Absolutely useless.

    :)

Went back and much less taxing, opened the Advance account for me:o

Got given the gizmo keypad for online transactions, like the M&S one.

    Completed Switch paperwork.

£120 is paid within 100 days of account opening and after two monthly funding subs have been credited.

Arranged £300 ISA funds transfer into HSBC Loyalty Saver ISA

Invited to apply for credit card which gives £25 welcome bribe;)

So after all my moaning yesterday its a sunnier day even though its raining.

My advice to anyone not getting accepted by HSBC, just go somewhere else that does want you, plenty out there. But there is something humiliating about being turned down when you know you should qualify. I think HSBC are extremely thorough to the point of head banging because they are being heavily regulated due to past misdemeanours.

Will see how it goes, they are all bankers at the end of the day:)

I got refused having transferred £1750 for the past three months. Was told I failed their internal checks. Going to close my account with them. They've lost a potential mortgage customer. Silly bank.

OK,still no dice, apparently I failed their "internal"credit scoring and still only offered the Basic which I've declined.I know people say it but have zero idea why I would have failed as I easily matched the published T&Cs,maybe they don't like ppl who have more than 1or 2 current accounts ?? Give up with it now but Good Luck to anyone who tries !!

Just an idle thought Nationwide...would it be worth your while to do an SAR? It might just show up some useful information, however I am clutching at straws here!

    Re #172.

Think that could be my problem in getting knocked back, I've just got way too many current accounts. Ah well. Time to consolidate.

    Sorry Gers,SAR ????
If the rejection is because you have more than 1or 2 current accounts would be no good anyway, and to be honest the experience has turned me off HSBC BIG time,it's as if you have to beg to give them your business and apart from the incentives they offer nothing major.Bit annoyed they have so much info on me from the application process.

That very much depends on which "deal" you are referring to.

Has anyone opened an account online without having to send any documents , other than proof of address? Has anyone then transferred bank accounts by phone without having to send any documentation? If not I don't think this one is worth the hassle even though the incentives are worth having.
    Cheers!!!

It MAY throw up something helpful.

I applied for the HSBC Advance online and was told a decision will be made within 7 days, not 5 :) My plan is to switch from FD to HSBC and keep my main Barclays account, hope that works.
