is the 2.3% offer still about?

    No, sadly not.
  • I totally agree the saving allowance being brought in is driving me more to current accounts as to get a decent isa rate you need to fix for two years really and i don't like that long of a commitment. I currently have £2000 in tsb earning 5% before tax, santander 123 account nearly maxed at £20000 earning 3 % before tax, and reward halifax current account giving me £5 a month so i am pretty much full. So its a case of where to go now????

£250 per month into a TSB monthly saver at 5%, BOS classic with vantage (x3) for 3%, Tesco current (x2) at 3%.

trying to work out which one would be more beneficial.

Is the tesco one for new customers only?

I digress, though. The point of this post is to gauge opinion as to whether they'd raise my limit in the near future. I was given a £6,200 limit and am £4,600 into this. I have £20,000 in the 1-2-3 account and £11,000 in an ISA with them.

I've never requested a limit increase before and don't know whether to leave it for Santander to offer me a higher limit (or not) or speak to them about it. I have no requirements for any large purchases in the near future but I put pretty much everything onto this card so I'll exhaust it within a few months.

Going back to the original post and hopefully this information will be of use to anyone looking for the same.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you OP limit wise, except I took my 123 card out a month later (have now held it for 6 months). Anyway, I just called Santander on the number as given on their website...
To request a change to your credit limit on your account call 0800 9 123 123. Lines are open 7am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

....and it took all of a minute, they have a pre-approved amount for you to increase your limit to (mine was £1k) and if you want more than this, the adviser said that they would need to do a credit search after you have given them up-to-date income / expenditure details.

i have always found Santander to be right with limits, and reluctant to increase them. i had a Zero card with a £2,400limit for years.. so have tended to favour Amex, Barclaycard and MBNA instead.
