    Why did you 'offer' to get an evening or weekend job? He's not the one who wants you to earn money - you are. Whether you work isn't his choice, it's yours. (Ideally you'd discuss and decide this sort of thing as a team, but that only works if you're both equal partners.)

    Decide whether you want to get a part-time / evening / weekend job, and tell him he'll need to deal with the childcare while you're at work just as you have to deal with it while he's at work.
