  • hahah well thanks for the humourous comment - cheered me up after I felt some of the comments have been trying to shoot me down!

I cant attach a photograph otherwise I would take a photo and show you the sh*t job that was made to my engagement ring. For those people who don't wear there ring I guess its each to their own - I loved wearing mine and will bite the bullet and pay to get it repaired so I can continue to keep wearing it. :)

How many posts do you need to post a pic? Can you pm links or pics? I could then post for you.

I'm a silversmith & jewellery designer btw, self taught but successful although I don't do repairs at the mo I could have a look in a pic and can get some recommendations and ideas from other jewellers too

I was married for nearly 30 years and for the 1st 12 or 15 I had no probs with my engagement or wedding rings.

Then I began to develop itching under the rings which would then sweat and blister despite them both still fitting perfectly. It got to the point that I would only wear them for special occasions.

If your ring had not been rubbing and you hadn't noticed the rough edges for 2 years then its probably not the ring but rather an allergy you have developed.

what i cannot understand is how it has taken over 2yrs for you to discover its a sh*t job. The way you come across is that you cherish your "ring" and i guess you admire it everyday, so how on day 1 when you got the ring from the jeweller did you not see this sh*t job?

Thanks I'm not sure how many posts i need to have made before I am able to post a photo. Although I'm not able to do this because I have given the ring now to another Jewellers to take a look and get another opinion.

I haven't always noticed the "shoddy job" to my ring, being honest until recently the ring never comes off except for cleaning and without being qualified in jeweller I don't know what I am looking at. When the ring was first altered it seemed fine however my finger and the first opinion I have is that the work was not of a high standard.

Still could be an allergy you have developed, which can happen at any time.

maybe some lubrication round the ring before inserting finger will give a more stimulating feeling rather than a rough fingering feeling.

On another tangent would it be a form dermatitis, when i worked in the steel industry i used to get various crap under my wedding band which caused an irritation.........here is a link for you which you may find interesting.

Yes, she seems to be ignoring that point, I made it on the last page, no response.

I also pointed out how she could be allergic to one ring and not the other, no response.

Hey ho, lets hope she doesn't end up paying £935 for a new setting in the same alloy as the shoddy one.

OP from what you say the company is not trading anymore so there is nothing you can do. Get it fixed if you wish and enjoy, no point in getting too wound up now.

Oh and by the way I would not see a company doing work for "local celebs" as reason to use a company, to me it is reason to find a small trusted jeweler.

    Oh!
You work for 'Hearts of London' do you?

On this thread you recommend them and say:

I found them on a search for Hatton Garden a Reviews and they came up on Trip Advisor.

Choose them on being able to offer a no quibble return even on bespoke commissions. They were confident my girlfriend would love it and the risk was on them if she didn't. The ring was awesome Sarah-Jane the gemologist was lovely too
