Thursday 25th June - What small DFW things will you do today?
ziggy2407
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free!
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending!
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

To do
Take kids to b/fast club at school - free breakfast
Go to the gym - PT cancelled again on me but he's said that the last 5 sessions he's given me are free as he's messed me around and I start afresh on Monday. He's sent me a workout to do this morning anyway.

)
:starmod: Found 1p roadkill this morning
:starmod: Checked my nectar balance & the extra 750points for a spend at Homebase has tracked

:starmod: Breakfast was YS crumpets out of the freezer
:starmod: Lunch is using some stuff from the use up box - whey protein powder, peanut butter + a few frozen berries, a banana & 2 apple halves that I'd stewed after finding them in the boys school bags and they'd been bashed around for days!

Ducks and chucks done

need to get going to work:o
Have a great day everyone.
I might be df today, but enormous bills are on the horizon and if I am not very very careful in Jan 2016 I will be £20k in debt. So I need to do some serious pen work and keep at the self control. A tricky one for me.0 -
Thanks for the start Ziggy, and morning to Hannah and Maria.
My short list:
- Joined the July NSD challenge just now, I've got a short family holiday (in the UK) this month, so I'll try my best to get my 10 NSDs around this, though I'm sure I can nab a couple while we're away too.
- All meals from stores - you do not need crisps from the shop at work!!! Busy day at work today, hardly at my desk so there's less time for snacking.
- Move across extra money into savings tonight ahead of pay day.
- Update my signature to include July NSD challenge, and Christmas savings challenge.
I see some sun outside my office window today, lets hope it stays!
ETA - So sick of the spam on here!0 -
Good morning all, hope you all had a good night's sleep. I didn't catch a lot of zzz' last night. Being a major worrier, I was a bit paranoid about July's budget. Not as healthy as I would have wanted but, hey ho, we've survived all these years, I believe we are in a better place than where we were pre-2009 when we were living from pay check to pay check and over drafts and cc charges and into the red 5 days after payday. so today here goes my list:
Work out July's budget - done
Fret and worry about July's budget - done
Pay Halifax cc - £250 - done
Pay extra £200 to Halifax
Pay Littlewoods in full - telly bought last year on Buy Now Pay Later - £893 - done
Pay Capital One in full - £453 - done
check bank account and budget book - done
1 load of laundry - done
Hang yesterday's washing outside to dry - done - on airer in dining room as it is raining AGAIN,
Clean and shine the sink
Swish and swipe bathroom - done
Clean house
Withdraw money from bank to put in cash envelopes - done
Have passbooks from Virgin Money updated - done
Top Up shopping done
Pick up pre-ordered Mini greenhouse from Wilko - done
Check if HomeBargains can order my favourite shampoo (currently out of stock) - done - they will ring me back with an update. They've rung back to say they can't order them in for me coz it was a one off offer. Gutted but can't do anything about it.
Buy ingredients for Saturday's potluck lunch in church done
Make some more ice cream for kiddos
List 3 more items on eBay
Pick up purple sprouting broccoli from a fellow freecycler
Prepare Saturday's lecture/presentation on Budgeting done
Cook dinner - done"There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
Hi all. I have booked dog into boarding kennels for 9 days in July due to going on holiday and not being able to take her. Paid £30 deposit, and need to do some serious saving and selling on Ebay to raise the remainder. Currently have £40.50 saved so far. Also need to make a contribution to petrol costs and food as it is a self catering cottage.
List more on Ebay to use up free listings
All meals from stores. Spent £7.50 on food for the week and want to stretch it as far as I can, have eaten twice at other people's houses this week.
No spend day
1 x washing outside to dry
Surveys and Swagbucks
Exercise - dog walks and crosstrainer in evening
Great news is that I got £50 of Amazon vouchers from a pet insurance policy I took out from a link on MSE. Ordered lead, harness and toothpaste for the dog, as well as a cheap set of books for me and present for Dad for Father's Day.

God my life is so full of ups and downs! We came back from 10 days in Turkey on Monday. Had an amazing time then I lost my job on Tuesday (like right now I'm unemployed) and within half hour found out my mum has died.
Feeling very bummed out and no motivation to look for a job right now. Glad I have all of these MSE/small things skills. Think we will be ok as long as I get a job in the next 4 months.
Edited to add some positives!
* have done a load of washing and hung outside
* all meals from stores - making prawn curry for dinner
* bought dgd's birthday gifts from amazon - 4 books and a game. Watching a tea set on ebay. Hopefully cost is just over £30 and I used birthday's piggy bank
* got paid today - paid bills that needed paying
* worked out I can spread my 2 months salary over 4 (tight) months after that will have to start using savings
* cancelled any non urgent monthly payments
* I will vacuum, polish and wash floors this afternoon
* put about 3 loads of washing away
* need to call tax credits and see if we're entitled to anything (might do this tomorrow - motivation low right now)
* also need to call DWP to see if I'm entitled to apply for JSA while I'm looking for work (ditto)
* downloaded a couple of free books to read and put a few in my wishlist that aren't free
Ok so it's not all so bad xDF as at 30/12/16
