The OP's story seems so unlikely, It's bound to be a wind up.

Dangerous driving is serious stuff. Max jail-time two years, minimum ban 12 months.

Special reasons for exceeding speed limits and dangerous driving can be considered at court. Magistrates would then have discretion, based on the facts, to consider not disqualifying or endorsing.

    But never for 105 in a 30!
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

    I've assumed the same.

It'd be interesting to know how they were clocked at 130mph and 105 mph on 2 different road types?

Als isn't the maximum penalty for something like this a prison stretch?

    2 different speed cameras?

It's most definitely a ban, quite possibly a prison stretch but probably a suspended sentence.

105mph is insane in a 30, no-one has any time to react.

Without more info you cannot really say its insane. Manchester road in Bradford is a 30 limit but its a 2 (sometimes 3) lane road with barriers on both sides. at 3.00 am you could hit those sort of speeds with a reasonable chance of being fine.

Everyone sees 30 mph limit and assumes built up area full of happy children ready to run out in the road.

I wont condone it without more info but in a medical emergency if I thought it could save my wifes life I would be at those speeds in a heartbeat.

The 30 is a very wide two lane road, countryside, 2am, straight with good visibility. Houses very well set back, gated with private drives.

If by some chance this isn't a wind up then the driver needs to see a solicitor - preferably a motoring specialist. He/she is in far too much trouble to be asking for help on an internet forum.

Assuming police car caught them and recorded. You can be done for speeding twice if it is two different roads I believe?

I was contemplating that but surely they'd have been chased by a police car on blues and twos on the motorway and through the 30 zone and ignored them?

I was hoping for SRNTE ?

Is there not criteria for using a vehicle as an ambulance in a medical emergency?

How the hell did it end up a 30:eek:

They've neglected to mention large swathes of said road are surrounded by eateries, shops, pubs and housing (as well at the number of traffic lights / intersections).

At 3am it probably is quiet enough to get to said speeds (not sure about safely) but during the day it would be insane to try it.

Many many years ago it was a 50mph then dropped to 40 mph then they cut it from 3 lanes each side to 2 (plus part time bus lanes) and put in a central guided bus lane in the centre again with barriers.

Hi Allycat - I did say 3.00am ;) you would be lucky to hit 20 in rush hour (I worked in West Bowling for 26 years)
