    Couple of things surprised me:

The pay of a branch manager
That no-one in Natwest (esp head office who presumably had seen this pre screening) had the courage to 'de-bank' the swearing bully of a customer and protect their staff from fools like this in future - what message does that send out?

About £22-24k with a £200-400 bonus (assume monthly) if they hit a customer satisfaction target but they only hit it once in 2 years apparently

That surprises me too. I'd have guessed at least 10k higher.

That was a good example of when they went above and beyond but the customer still wasn't happy 😀

The issue aside (which seemed to have been dealt with correctly) that guy needs help. Hopefully his son was just as embarrassed as I was and doesn't think that behaviour is acceptable when talking to anyone.

Hopefully Natwest expunge father from their business forthwith.

I opened my first account with the National Provisional Bank in Dulverton in 1969 later to become the National Westminster bank. What a difference in style to those days and the way the staff are today.

However sad to read recently the branch is closing in September 2015.

In those days I use to have the greatest respect for the staff who worked in banks but now they are only sales people with the computer the brains behind any decision making.

I think you'll find that the bonus she mentioned was a one off and happened quite some time before the recording. RBSG used to pay pretty good bonuses to all staff - nowhere near the big money you see for the high flyers, but for a few years we got a guaranteed 10% of salary as profit share and other types of personal bonus, but the crash will have put paid to all that.

I must admit I was surprised at the salary though, I find it hard to believe that somebody with the ability to manage a busy branch and 28 staff couldn't find better paying job than that in another sector (although perhaps not in Huddesfield).
