We just fibbed about it...
There's a word for that: fraud.
Best of luck with trying to get your deposit back if there are any problems.
I'd demand the costs of a full fumigation for that particular fraud.
How do you know that the next occupants of the property would not be allergic to cats?0 -

Good luck
www.actionfraud.police.uk/ - please report asap.0 -
No need for luck on my part
It would swallow all or most of the tenant's deposit in such an instance.
Can you please supply any case where either the court or the DPS ADR granted the LL fumigation costs as you suggested above. - That's above and beyond reasonable cleaning costs.
I will make a £5 donation to a charity of your choice if you can.0 -

After a three year tenancy I'm happy to let my deposit go...
After all our furniture has been removed and the carpet has been professionally cleaned (which I believe we have agreed to cover as part of our tenancy) I'd be surprised if the house is a danger to anyone...
Looks like we have a particularly amenable LL - he even dropped us off a bottle of wine recently after coming over to see the work we'd done on his garden. :beer:0 -
Fumigation is more likely to cause an allergic reaction than prevent one.
"As with all other chemical substances, disinfectants and pesticides fueled into fog machines can also bring several adverse effects on people’s health. These effects include:
Breathing hazards
Allergic reactions
Eye irritation
Respiratory tract irritation
Dry throat, headaches, and dizziness"0 -

I would not be happy to hand over thousands of pounds to anyone because of a lie - but, hey, that's just me.
As for the house not being a danger - cat and dog allergans can remain for months or even years, posing a threat to future tenants. But what do you care about a child suffering an asthmatic attack, so longs as Tiddles is treated like the princess she deserves to be?0 -
Some people are severely allergic to peanuts, maybe tenants should be banned from having foodstuffs containing peanuts as well.0

Allergies and Asthma are two seperate things, you know this dont you?
Either way, wont affect you, with the whole no children policy.0 -

We are particularly fond of Tiddles. More to life than money.
Here's an outlandish thought: maybe our LL is happy to risk a little extra wear and tear in exchange for reliable tenants who never miss a payment and (partially due to Tiddles) are so settled they haven't bothered moving for quite a while.0
