Oh Crunchy I feel your pain! My budgets always seem to work out that next month is when the BIG overpayments start. But then there's always something I couldn't account for. I really need to get to the point of having a month or two's income sat in savings pots for things like this but I don't want to put off overpayments anymore to save those pots!!!Debt Free I FFEF I Building Savings I 2025 Plan:

Evening!
Not sure whether I have mentioned this at all but I work in the education sector so I can say 'SCHOOLS OUT FOR SUMMER!!!'
Due to various reasons I am now down to £60 till August 19th.
What a lovely challenge that will be!! I also have my MOT tomorrow so fingers crossed it will pass with no advisories!!
I rang HR again today as still hadn't been paid my extra money. They said it will be paid tomorrow and that it will be the grand total of £1230!!!
Husband gets paid on Friday and we should have £200 ish left over after bills so....
I have enough money to pay for the shed - phew! Challenge 1 completed!!
There should be about £100 left over for the slush fund till next pay day should things get very tight.
Challenge number 2 is 'Entertaining a toddler and a baby by not going out of the village until the 19th August.'
Here is how I am going to achieve it:
1) invite people round here!
2) Make a list of free stuff to do at home or in the village. Its 20 working days till the 19th so I'm going to think of 20 things to do.
3) See if husband can take a few days off so we can do a few things together.
4) See if the local playgroup runs throughout the summer as that will be 4 days straight out
5) Us pinterest to find some crafty bits/messy play we can do.
6) update on here daily with my progress
There will be a few times when I need to go out of the village but I shall make sure that I stay very local and combine trips where possible.
I have started a A3 size mind map of ideas for this and for have a list as long as my arm for things for me to do in the evening.
Its going to be great!! Wish me luck!

Right here goes, day 1 of my challenge. The good news - the car passed its mot!!!
The bad news is it's now booked in for a service that will cost £550!!!
Because it's done over 100k now it needs a new timing belt apparently. The £550 is with a discount of about £100 if I booked it in there and then so I did and paid a £123 deposit on my credit card. It's booked in for after pay day of course and should have some of the £400 car maintenance money to put towards it but my tax is also due at the end of the month so will need to pay that too - cars are such a necessary evil. Massive boooooo.
As for spends today I had to buy some milk and sandwich meat for our lunch as well as some scourers as we had run out and couldn't do my washing up!
As for the rest of the day I slumped on the sofa as have anemia at the moment and felt rubbish. Trying to control it through diet but thinking about some iron pills now.
So a bit of a rubbish first day of the holidays. Hope tomo is better!!

I also spent £20 on petrol. I have to go to school on Monday so that should pay for that trip. So have about £35 left for the rest of the summer!!!

Woohoo! The £1230 has hit my account and swiftly been stashed into a savings pot for paying the shed company!!
I also had a tidy up of our accounts and managed to slush £20 towards my credit card and transferred £30 from paypal from ebay sales too. Credit card stands at a shocking £2147!! £938 of this is the shed deposit though and the rest is drastically underestimating our budget over the last few months. One of my summer projects is to sort out a realistic budget for us for the start of the new school year.:T
So todays plans are as follows...
Basically a major errands run
- take stuff to charity shop
- return some parcels
- finally take music magpie parcel to collection place.
- pay in the loose change I counted out of our pot - £7 in 6 months!! Will be transferred to ISA.
- go to the library
- buy cream of tartar for playdough
I also need to do a meal plan and an online shop for tomorrow and a huge ironing plan this evening. I'm also planning to start a new top tonight with my fabric stash and pinterest.
Hope everyone is having a lovely day!!

Quick update!
I managed to take the music magpie parcel in so hopefully will get payment for that soon a£40. i also managed to take some stuff to the charity shop and started making a new top from my fabric stash. I'm really pleased I did as I feel really inspired to get back into sewing now.
Husbands pay day tomo. Got the health visitor coming and a trip to the park planned to in the morning to see if the playgroup is running during the hols. It's opposite the park so won't be a wasted trip. It's supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon so playdough activities are planned!
I fel very boring writing all of this but it's helping me stay focussed so I'm going to keep going - sorry if I'm boring you all!!
Hopefully will be ble to update some figures tomorrow!!! Yippee!!

Hi Crunch
You seem very organised, I need to get my skates on and get some activities planned for my girls- although they are 16 and 12 so its a bit different. Good luck on your debt free journey and enjoy the rest of your holidays.Emergency fund target £12,000 (£2589).

Thanks - Sick of being in debt. Entertaining a 3 year old is very challenging for me at the moment. The baby is very easy in comparison.
Woohoo! Pay day today for the hubs! The following payments have been made
- £275 off the loan bringing it to £15,642
- £150 into emergency savings pot brining it to £404
- £200 car maintenance money transferred into my account to pay for my service deposit and car tax
- £178 left over transferred into the 'shed pot' which now stands at £2208.
This brings my debt down to £20,388.
Hopefully next month we will get to below £20k again. That would make me sooo happy!
Happy Friday everyone!!
