Morning and thankyou for posting, I'm hoping that by having a diary it keeps me on the straight and narrow, but I do feel as though I am on a hamster wheel.

    Take care.x.

    Hi and thankyou for posting.
I would love to get all my debt on 0% or LLB but the problem is I know I would get turned down for any new CC at the minute, which is why I'm trying to overpay and get some wiggle room with the cards I have and then try and transfer between them if any offers arise, hopefully over paying should improve my credit rating as well.

Have you checked out :money: CC application checker? Doesn't put a mark on your credit file and gives you a pretty accurate idea if you can get a a new 0% card

I second that! I wouldn't apply for anything now without doing this first!

We are all on the hamster wheel I'm afraid, we're just hoping to enable our own to slow a little....!

  • Well guys, I took your advice and checked out the CC checker...........................................

And I applied and got accepted for mbna card 0% for 18 months, only downside is its only got a £1700 limit, so I now need to decide what I'm going to transfer.

My Tesc0 card has the highest apr, as about 2k ins on 0% until march and the rest is 21%, so my thinking is transfer from here onto mbna, credit limit is 10k on tesc0 (yes you read that right), then that will leave roughly £5500 on tesc0, I then wondered about contacting tesc0 to see if they had any offers on balance transfers and hopefully transferring Ha1ifax card onto tesc0 and then throw everything at next followed by Tesco card, as I think they take money off highest apr first, am I right, please advise!!!

Oh and I finally got through to very and cancelled the account, third time I've tried and not been on hold for 20mins, hopefully that will be good for credit rating as credit limit was 3k.

If you have multiple 0% BTs then payments are made the the transfer ending first. If you have a card with transfers at different rates then yes highest is reduced first.

Remember transfer fees too ! It might be cheaper in the long run to move a smaller amount with a current higher interest rate - next card?? Your tesco card is 0% until March so why add 3% to part of it now when it's not costing you anything and come March the balance will be lower for you to transfer then. By moving the store card you will save the interest you are paying even with a BT fee. I think that makes sense. Typing on a tablet and keyboard often has mind of its own!

Oh and I have just thought.......you might find now your current CCs increasing the credit limit - I know perverse but generally that means they will also offer you BT offers so you start to get some room to shift debts around - BT Tetris:rotfl: Just got to do the maths and make it work for you

  • Thankyou Igamogam, your advice is greatly appreciated.

I need to sit down properly and work it all out, will do this when kids are in bed tonight and can think quietly without DS random questions, oh and he has also decided to use a magic set he had got for xmas and forgotten about, which is great its keeping him amused, just means he is trying out tricks on me every 5 mins that are really dire.
I have told him his dad is home this afternoon and he should put on a magic show for him:D:rotfl:.

Fab start! You'd be surprised how quickly overpaying on credit cards etc will give you access to better and better deals...my OH had a terrible credit rating, I had him open a poor credit card account and in no time his score improved to the extent that he can get almost as good rates & times on cc's and loans as I now can! So come March and the 0% end on your Tesco card, you may have much better options
