On the subject of gas, I only had my house for 2-3 months, gas meter changed, that evening I was going to my mates for a few drinks and stay over. Left house, went to my parents, left my wallet in the house, went back, front door open, smelt gas! Gas off, phoned, and the guy who installed the meter forgot a valve or something. I live in a mid-terrace, always think what would have happened if I didn't forget wallet!!0

People were concerned for your safety! And your baby's!
They advised, because you reported a smell of gas, that you urgently call the gas board (even helpfully gave you the number), and backed up this advice by showing you the potential consequences of not taking action.
because, rightly, they/we were concerned for your & your baby's safety.
You asked for advice and you have the nerve to come back and criticise when you get it.
I could offer further advice on how to approach the apparantly non-urgent flue issue, but can't be bothered now.0
