My computer has been running slow for ages and ages and crashing frequently, I have long suspected that this was due to Norton software. This morning I have disabled it and installed a trial version of Kaspersky. I can see a marked difference in speed. vista firewall does monitor outbound activity. its also got that annoying but useful user account control.
been using avg anti virus and the vista firewall for 3/4 months now and not had a problem.
can only go with what others are saying and stay well clear of norton. got it free with my other pc and the difference when I eventually got it replaced by avg was amazing especially at start up.0 -

Go to zonealarm's settings, firewall>main and make sure the security levels are set to high.
Edit: is your windows firewall definitely switched off?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Only thing I can think of is something has been given permission that shouldn't. One drastic solution would be to delete all the programs from zonealarm's list and teach it the permissions again. Start with just the browser so you can test with shieldsup again first and see if the problem is solved or not."She is quite the oddball. Is opera the ONLY program now in zonealarm's list? If so there must be something else. Last thing I'd try is to reinstall zonealarm altogether."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
