Vodafone are changing many of their out of bundle charges and may well mean many people who want to leave can.

"We appreciate this may mean your monthly bills increase by more than the Retail Price Index of 0.9%, so we’re giving you the opportunity to end your agreement with us without charge. To do this, simply write to us within 30 days of the receipt of this communication at Vodafone Customer Care, Vodafone House, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2FN. "

Vodafone sent out two communications - one to people who are affected and can cancel, one for those who can't cancel because their calling/texting history means that their bills would not increase over 0.9% with the rate applied.

You have to have received the communication you quoted to have the right to cancel.

Unfortunately, I received the other communication :(

Could you not argue that they are changing the contract, because of this, you have the right to accept or reject it? The 3 month thing is something made up by Vodafone, so I guess you could argue it with them.

Arguing the contract will not count unless you can demonstrate the loss you will suffer.
Unless you make regular use of the services that are increasing in price your not going to be able to do that.
A 3 month history period would be a reasonable mark to go by.

I have checked bills, they are already charging 40p plus vat on 0844 numbers and 35p plus vat on 0871 numbers, everyone have different price charges for calling such numbers.

Not really. Existing useage extrapolated under the new charging structure would be easy to establish. For those sensibile enough to stay within their bundles previously it won't be an option since their costs won't increase.

I've still not had a response to my letter... I'd move now if they'd let me go.

Got a response to my letter at last.

Short answer is they won't let me go, but they did throw a lifeline saying once the new charges start, I can keep an eye on usage and write to them again if I see my bills going up by about or more than 10%.

I just got the text from Vodafone and it directs me to the second link, i.e. saying that I can cancel without charge if I write to them.

But I need to get this straight.

I took out a contract in October 2015 via Carphone Warehouse. It included an iPhone 6. My contract runs until October 2017.

Can I really cancel now, without any further charges, and keep the phone? Sounds too good to be true?

But if it is true I'd be crazy not to take advantage of it.
