OK maybe so but I racked up the debt so it is my responsibility to pay it back, or at least make an attempt to pay off as much as possible. I'm hoping to avoid CCJ's and like on my credit file.
I owe £15k to Barclaycard in total and don't think they'll just write it off ?

I got £6K written off, avoid it for long enough and it will be. Just don't confirm the debt is yours. Say you had your identity stolen.

No it won't because, unlike you, the OP doesn't live in Scotland.

Not just in Scotland. OP needs to be more aware of what creditors can and can't do

Amorge, please dont follow this advise. It is that mentality which ends up ruining the world, increases cost for everyone else and in general just living life in a greedy-selfish way. People who think they can just rack up debt and just get it written off should really be taught a lesson...

Write-offs/CCJs are a last resort but every effort should be made to avoid this. You have been doing extremely well so far so keep it up!

Thanks plunt - there is no chance I'm following any of that advice, I made my bed....... it's daunting but it is my responsibility to repay the money I have 'squandered'

Just ignore the debt. If they call, say it's the wrong number, if they send letters, just return to sender. Eventually the debt will become unenforceable.

And the OP will get a CCJ for there trouble !!!

Just wanted to add about the lodger - think about what you want the house rules to be. It is perfectly acceptable for instance to rent out a room, without that giving use of the sitting room or the right to leave dirty dishes in the kitchen, but best make everything clear before anyone moves in.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

    Thanks for the lodger advice.
Ebay items ending as we speak, so far I've made £225 obviously I have charges to come out of that but am pleased.
3 items finish tomorrow and hoping they go for about £20 each
