Sorry, do you mean calling Barclaycard and asking them to merge the 2 cards to 1 and do it at 0% ?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
well sadly i doubt they will do that as they are earning interest from you :(

But it was more the idea of freeing up some of your credit limit so that you could transfer some more debt onto the 0% card.

    Eg:

£1000 credit limit maexed out at 0% + £500 credit limit maxed out @18.9%

if you manage to transfer that £500 out to another card temporarly, then get barclays to merge the credit limits so you have 1500 credit limit @ 0% with 1k used, then transfer back the £500

    BUT
    1) i havent used barclays so not sure if they are likely to merge limits (or you risk them taking it away completely!)
    2) there will be fees involved
    3) useless if you dont have much longer on the 0% deal or the transfer time has lapsed!

Hmm I'll give them a call later and look into that - worth trying anything to ease the financial stress!

Updated debt information - I got Shop Direct out by £700 !!

Next has been paid off this week - £120
Shop Direct is £2,169.64 NOT the £2800 I though :):)

That makes my total debt £20,276.64 - fingers crossed the eBay items make a couple hundred and then it'll be under £20k

well my mind is certainly in the right mindset at the moment!
I had a £50 amazon voucher emailed to me from my house insurance company. Normally I'd whittle it away on useless rubbish but not this time.... I purchased the next bag of dog food that lasts 2 months

  • Just ignore the debt. If they call, say it's the wrong number, if they send letters, just return to sender. Eventually the debt will become unenforceable.

I'm not sure why you think this is good practice! For starters; they know where I live and debt collectors will come calling! The debt will be unenforceable 6 years from the date of the CCJ they give me; which by the way, I'm hoping to avoid!
What do you propose I do for the next 6+ years; hide in the house and never open the door, answer the phone ?

Debt collectors will not be used for credit card debt. The most severe form of debt collection Barclaycard will do is to send someone to your door - but you can just tell me to eff off.

They only way bailiffs are ever employed if is you owe council tax, HMRC or another government debt. Private debt like CCs and store cards cannot use doorstop collectors.
