Hi,
Sorry, ditsy here. I got rid of sky (too expensive) but I want to be able to record my favourite shows. I was recommended to get a Humax box, that would allow me to record etc, but I'm now wondering if smart tv's do that?
My TV is poorly (speakers blown), and I was given a £200 bonus at work today, which will be paid to me in any high street vouchers for the store of my choice. So I'm now wondering if rather than spend £100/£175 on a freesat box, and at some point a new tv, is there anything that combines the two? And likely to work out cheaper in the long term.

26/05/2018 = I DID IT! I am DEBT FREE!
Debts repaid since 06/02/2015 = £23,079
Mortgage...forever!!!! - But who cares, when all I've ever wanted is my own place!:j

Hold on to your sky box and give it a week or 2... There is a good chance you will get a win back promotion of 60% off for a year plus £100 credit which will mean practically free sky for a year with the original bundle and you can spend your £200 on a nice new TV.0

See http://www.freesat.co.uk/get-freesat/freesat-tvs-with-freetime
The problem with such combination TVs is that there's more to go wrong and, when it needs to go for repair, you've lost the lot.
Far better to get a separate TV and Freesat receiver. Much greater choice and opportunity to make savings.0 -

There is, (a Panasonic TV combined with Freetime) but it costs a bomb -

Its far better, more reliable and cheaper to buy a separate TV and Freesat box than go the combined route.0 -
If your TV picture is still OK I would go for a humax box and a soundbar
Refurbs direct from Humax are cracking value. We have one still going strong 2 years on.

They also do a soundbar which is pretty good value too

Works out around £250 for both.0 -
£200 gets you a Panasonic TV with freetime built in
£199 for the 32" £299 for the 42" and £349 for the 50"
I presume you can add a hard drive to the tv to record off it but you would have to check
