Hi all,
I've added these posts onto our main thread with recommendations for Cook Books.

Another one of my favourites for inspiration is The New English Kitchen by Rose Prince. it's been mentioned before by me and others. It's brilliant for showing you how to get the most out of food by stretching expensive ingredients and using storecupboard stuff creativley.

:rotfl: oh well my plan not to buy anymore cookery books has just bombed...0 -
I have bought loads of cookery books in my time, but recently had a blitz on them and just tore out all the recipes I really liked and put them in a ring binder. Now have a free shelf in my kitchen!
The three I will never part with are my 1950s Good Housekeeping Cookery Compendium (very OS!), a very battered Rose Elliott vegetarian book " Cheap and Easy", and a bread book from the 1970s " Use Your Loaf".
I also have a 1930s cook book, but the recipes aren't that nice, it's just interesting to read. The worst recipe from it has to be " Spaghetti and Fig Mould" which is a cold pudding! Yuck!!0
