The people who have been saying this most probably do not have mobile 'phones, or internet connectivity using WI-FI. They would perhaps not have radios or televisions. They would not have a microwave oven. They would perhaps not wish to rely upon emergency services for themselves or their children which deploy harmful radiation. They would not use aircraft which are guided by radio. They would not use telephones which may rely upon microwave communication.
In fact, to avoid radio frequency radiation they would avoid most of the conveniences of modern life. A life in a remote location would be recommended.
However, should they be proven right they will be able to come the the desperately sick majority and say, "if only you had followed our advice the world would have been saved".
Now has anyone got a wireless baby alarm?I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
I had the first British Gas smart meter fitted in 2011 which was flipped to Prepayment and a few weeks later flipped back to credit so it can be done. They have rolled out later models since then so I've no idea what they can do now.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

I find it hard to believe that they had the functionality for this feature 4 years ago, but then decided not to use it.
I was fitting the old phase2 smart meter back in 2011 and those meters certainly did not have the prepay/credit flip functionality0 -
It may be hard to believe but it's true.I remember doing all the testing to see how long it took for messages to get to my meters. It was all done remotely for both the changes to PP and credit.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

So here's the scenario; you have a dispute with BG over a billing issue and refuse to pay their outrageous demand. For the sake of argument, they hit you with a bill for £5000 out of the blue when you normally pay £100 a month by DD; an obvious mistake on their part. In the "shoot first ask questions later" environment of these unregulated corporate bullies they simply switch you to PP. Previously they needed a court warrant to come in and change the meter. Now they can do it remotely without further ado. But of course, mistakes like this never happen! So you're alright. :rotfl:0 -
Where any debts are concerned there will still be all the usual processes to go through before it reaches that point. In fact I believe a couple of years ago I saw info on the web that more would be put in place before a PP smart meter would be actioned. GingerBob, I do not know where you get the idea the industry is unregulated. It must be one of the most regulated industries out there!Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

They have regulators, but they are not regulated.0 -
