People have been saying there's been harmful radiation coming from smart meters - what about the in home display unit? Is that safe?

One can only assume it's safe, like all other electrical gadgets. But why on earth would you want a smart meter? It gives all the aces to your supplier. E.g. if you have a dispute with them they could remotely turn you off or switch you to pre-pay.0 -
There is significantly more dangerous radiation coming from your smart phone which you hold up to your head than there will ever be from a smart meter or it's display unit which is usually in a cupboard somewhere.
Likewise Bluetooth, wifi, mobile phones or a myriad of other electronic devices in either your home or those next door, over the road, down the street etc will be exposing you to radiation every single second of the day.
It's all around you. TV & radio signals, mobile phones masts, police, fire ambulance mobile radios etc. But the worst by far is that from your mobile phone which sits in your pocket or handbag all day cooking your insides or is held up to your ear gently frying your brain. If you want to minimise any risk then chuck your mobile phone way.
You can't get away from wireless radiation and stupid people suggesting that smart meters are dangerous should be taken out and floggedNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

What's your source for this ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

same place that says looking at a smart meter will burn the home owners entire family(including extended family, family relatives that live in far flung corners of the world and will also trace your lineage and do those too)
On another note, The 'radiation' that comes from the smart meters is no different to that of your mobile phone or wifi connection.
I do believe that there is no smart meter being installed which can switch between credit and prepay.0 -
The big 6 are still trialing smart electric prepay/credit meters.Eon advertise their new meters as easily switchable between prepay and credit mode .BG still trialling theirs. They are coming, they are badly needed, they are vital for suppliers and customers alike .Bad news for the increasing bunch of energy thieves who either move into rentals with credit meters with the full intention of paying nothing for as long as they can,and the usual amateur electricians who internally wire the terminals.0

B/S on two points. See the post above from sacsquacco.0 -

Which points? The heavily sarcastic comment, the 'i believe no one is fitting smart meters capable of switching'? (that phrase I believe means I have not seen)
I don't fit smart meters for EON so I couldn't comment, but I can tell you that British Gas' smart meter is incapable of switch between prepay and credit.
Perhaps you meant the my comment about the 'radiation' part. Go prove me wrong, Dont link to american videos.0
