I know sometimes you just have to grin and bear it if you really want to see the marina.;)0 -

I was far more aware of aircraft when I lived in Stranmillis than I am now, you want to avoid the flight path which isn't the same as proximity to the airport.
Areas of East Belfast are more "mixed" and although Alliance lost their seat they still grew their share. The schools are also up there with Strathearn and Campbell College among the top.
I've nothing against South Belfast having lived their for 8 years but when it came to buying it paid to move East.0 -
Have you considered moving out of Belfast .
You don't need a passport to travel further than Malone and the houses are cheaper and maybe nicer .
Some areas don't even paint the footpaths ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
....The schools are also up there with Strathearn and Campbell College among the top.....
:rotfl::rotfl: Seriously.... Have you seen the league tables..... Strathearn I'll give you but NOT Campbell..... Old Boys Network through and through..... Northern Irelands own little version of Eton... but just a very poor performing one!!0 -
It's only those from Sydenham,Hollywood and ....Rosetta who complain about the planes.Apparently Rosetta residents that have roofspace exstensions are just tortured with aircraft noise.funkey_monkey wrote: »Good point - I forgot about the airport!
I seriously wouldn't be too concerned about the aircraft noise..... I live in the area and I really do not notice it at all and I'm a culchie moved to the big smoke who likes his quiet!! ....
Unless your house is an old one with single glazed windows and no loft insulation it really is not noticeable..... and if it was that type of house, what with the price of fuel as it is, a bit of aircraft noise should be the very least of your worries...0 -

I was surprised to see that the east is actually the least mixed constituency in Belfast (75% - 12%). The South is 44%- 45%.
The East, at least with people I talk to, is a place to move to if you can't afford to move to the South. It's a compromise place. We looked at the East, but the flags, bonfires and lack of Catholic schools put me off . Estate agents go on about Ballyhack, but I can't really see the appeal. It's nice but...
I agree with Warmhands, Campbell is by no means among the top.0 -
I am in Rosetta and the planes never bother me at all.
I will join the !!!!! fest by saying:
Don't forget East Belfast every summer has the riots in the evenings due to certain people not being allowed to march where ever.;)0 -

Funny.. rightly or wrongly I'd class the Rosetta Area more like "South-East" Belfast. All the good bits but none of the crap of the "Far East". I'm not far at all from there and I'm in a "Mixed" marriage and I have NEVER seen any trouble around us... Our kids go to local clubs round in Cregagh Community Centre just off Mount Merrion and have Never had any trouble (even though there's now an obscene bonfire out on the green area out he back). They go to a school off the Ormeau Road "technically" in South Belfast but we're still in the catchment are for it.... No problems at all and we love it there..0 -

It's different for mudbloods, we blur the lines.
Look you're a fellow southy. No more of this trying to annex Rosetta and give it to the East. You're acting like a Russian.0
