I think the biggest thing East Belfast has going for it is that it Isn't South Belfast! Far better amenities, routes into the city, schools…and on and on. Massively better place to live in my opinion. South Belfast is still seen as a bit "aspirational" historically, and a lot of people still buy into that.

Better amenities in the East? Like what?

The Malone/Lisburn road is a bit of nightmare in rush hour but only a 10-15 minute walk into the city.

On the schools front, I think it very much depends on "what foot you kick with". Some of the best schools in Belfast are in the south.

Also too many flags in the East. The south is better "mixed".

Costs less than a tenner from S Belfast in a taxi to the City anyway, hardly a great advantage.

It's only those from Sydenham,Hollywood and ....Rosetta who complain about the planes.Apparently Rosetta residents that have roofspace exstensions are just tortured with aircraft noise.
