it makes me so angry when cyclists refuse to obey traffic signs

i think its time to make cyclists pay for using the roads
But... cyclists pay exactly the same as motorists to use the road! The only difference is that cyclists don't cause anything like the wear-and-tear on the road surface. If anything, we need an extra tax for road repairs based on the weight of the vehicle.
I also think it's time to install GPS trackers and CCTV in cars and start handing down short prison sentences for drivers who speed or break other rules. The majority of drivers regularly break the law. Clearly the law isn't tough enough to persuade drivers to behave responsibly.
The driving test needs to be tightened up too. Almost any idiot can pass it! Some people simply shouldn't be allowed to drive. And with in-car-CCTV, tracking, and proper testing, we can get the idiots off the road, make the roads safer, and reduce congestion.0 -
There are actually some specific hand signals that horse riders use. I would suggest that some people have a read of this as it would enable them to understand what the gesture being directed at them means :-)

Except for the stop gesture the others are signals used for when cars do not have indicators. As we drive on the right hand side the turn left signal can also be arm straight and then circuling to make it easier to see as this signal will be done inside the car.
I live in a rural area with lots of farmers who all seem to own vintage tractors with no indicators so alongwith the numerous horse riders hand signals are used quite a lot.
I have also used them on the motorbike. At the front of a large group of riders I spotted two pheasants who decided to lie down in the middle of the road. Due to oncoming traffic I could not go around the birds and so used the stopping signal to make sure everyone behind me knew that the reason for stopping was due to a problem to make them all more cautious.
I would also take note if a horse rider does the stop signal. I have seen a horse roll over the bonnet of a car and it was very messy.0 -

Good grief! Have you seen the things drivers do on the roads?! Only a few days ago a woman was caught eating a bowl of cereal whilst driving.
With attitudes like that, is it any wonder that car drivers are held in contempt by so many people too? And given the injuries that drivers cause, isn't their behaviour far more reckless, irresponsible and contemptible than cyclists could ever be?
You also realise that the Charlie Hebdo terrorists used a car to help them commit the atrocity? Doesn't that make you ashamed to be a driver, when other drivers are capable of such evil acts? Do you think that's part of the reason that drivers are held in such contempt these days?0 -
Absolutely. Because obviously no cyclist also owns a car; no cyclist pays Income Tax, VAT or Council Tax. No cyclist ever uses a delivery service or a shop that has deliveries taken by road. And clearly a bicycle wears down the road far more than any number of cards, vans, lorries and HGVs. What a bunch of !!!!!!!!!!s!0

Anyone who pays income tax, VAT, council tax, etc, pays road tax.0

Using the murder of 11 innocent people in an attempt to make a point!
Well done. That must be one of the sickest comparisons I've seen in a long time.
At least my post was directly related to the actions of one person on this forum and I didn't go off at a tangent, dragging something totally unconnected into the discussion.0 -

Well, some people need a bit of shock-value to see how ridiculous they're being.
On a lighter note, think of all the wars that have been started by people with two legs. No wonder one-legged people hold us two-leggers in contempt. What are you doing to improve the public perception of two-legged people? Are you always as nice as you should be in public, or do you bring two-legged people like myself into disrepute?

Road tax? Do you mean VED tax which is based on vehicle emissions and the proceeds from doesn't go directly back into repairing the road?
Do you know a lot of modern cars don't pay tax either because they are low emissions? Should these environmentally friendly cars be put off the roads as well? What about mobility cars, police vehicles etc that don't pay tax?All your base are belong to us.0 -

Indirectly we pay every tax there is. To use that as an argument that certain groups shouldn't pay the tax directly is :rotfl:
Other arguments may apply. I'm not really interested in the usual pathetic flame war between motorists and cyclists. But I do enjoy taking the p out of ridiculous arguments.0
