Hi all,
So first post and this is something that I have put up with or some time but the RBS are just not fixing it, today I was told all banks are affected when I asked to compain..... Is this true?
Basically if you have £500 in your current account on Friday morning and have £2000 pay going in on Monday AM, along with a £500 debit coming out on Monday, RBS allocate all of the debits and standing orders for a Monday on the Friday! This leaves my bank account inaccessible for the weekend.
They explain further on their website (and say it is wrong too)
So are all banks affected or is it only the antiquated RBS? It doesn't seem legal to me but I am no lawyer!
Comments appreciated.

Any transactions such as standing orders/Direct Debits are processed on the Saturday for Monday.
As essentially the banks system thinks is Monday on a Saturday.
However on the flip side if you have money paid into your account on a Monday you will be able to access it on the Saturday (no one ever complains about that suprisingly).

The process will be changing soon much to a lot of people's annoyance.
Barclays also follow the same type of process.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Well that's it, I have a credit paid in for Monday which doesn't show.0

RBS systems are antiquated. Why not get an arranged overdraft on your account even if you don't plan to use it. That would solve the problem.0

Payments due to debit an account normally show as pending (and will affect your available balance) the working day before they are due to be paid. Payments due on a Monday will show as pending on Friday, the working day before. This is pretty normal for most banks. It's not illegal.0

It doesn't I have two accounts and a large SO between the two for the bills. If I need money I have to ring and beg and its at their discretion apparently. The payroll was done at my work and it will be there Monday AM. Stupidly RBS take all DDs and SOs on the Saturday.
And RBS can't round an incorrectly taken So at the weekend to further complicate things.
It's an unbelievable place for RBS to put customers, I can't access my own money in my own current account due to this.0 -
Payroll aye work so not 100% it used to clear on Saturdays but not anymore. And they haven't changed bank.0

Have you called them? To tell them you need access to the funds.
If you have money going in on Monday that should have hit your account now also.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Still not the point they are wrong in taking money to be paid on the 15th on the 13th! They even admit it on their site so why argue!0
