Hi all,
Productive day today, I was in cleaning mode so the bathroom and kitchen are now spotless. Better move onto the lounge and bedrooms tomorrow! It never ends does it.
I managed to have a NSD today (if you don't take into account house insurance), but that was mainly due to the fact that I haven't left the house today.....think I'd better face humanity tomorrow.
I renewed my home insurance today, although I could have saved £30 by switching, I chose to stay where I am. The insurance I have is good and works well for an offshore worker like me. I did check the insurance company weren't giving a cheaper deal to new clients on their website, but a new quite actually came out as more expensive.
I had two things sell on ebay today, so should get about £50 from those after fees, postage etc. I can't wait to have the offset all set up so I can start chucking all these bits and bobs in there. For now I'll transfer it to my ISA.
Hoping I can get a few more bits listed tomorrow and also go for another NSD! That is my goal as well as the cleaning mentioned above. Fingers crossed I can pull it off.

Hi all,
Bit of a delay in updating again. Someone very special to me passed away and I've been mostly consumed with that and related tasks.
The money front is not at all good this monthI think I am up to £200 on petrol (my car guzzles it) from driving from my home to my mum's during this rubbish time. I'm in Norfolk and my family are Oxfordshire way. I've also had to buy some new shoes, clothes etc. I am going to be in the red this month and so will have to dip into my savings. I need to run a tight ship for October!
My new mortgage should come into effect on the 3rd of October. I am stupidly excited about this. Does anyone else get excited about a new mortgage deal or is it just me?
I have also switched my energy to the MSE Energy Club Fix. I won't have any extra money from moving, it was preemptive so that I didn't automatically end up on the higher standard rate when my fix ends this month.
To kick me whilst I am down my car has developed a problem. I really am praying that the garage can fix it for me tomorrow and that it won't cost me a fortune. I need a new car really, but I just don't have the money for one at the moment. My plan was to get the house finished and then save like mad for a new one, but my hand may be forced in a different direction.
I'm currently eyeing up the items I have left at my Mum's house to see what I can sell. There are some books, dvds, etc. Hopefully be able to make a few pounds from the items I don't want to keep. It will be good to get the last of my stuff gone from her house really, considering that I haven't lived here for 9 years now!
I really need to take my game to the next level in October and try to have more NSDs then SDs!MFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

Hi all,
So, the money pit of a car cost me £400 to fix! If I hadn't been away from home I would have probably scrapped it. But i needed it with everything that was going on.
So now that it's October tomorrow, I have to be much better with my money! I've just sorted three parcels of books and DVDs that I have sold online. I'll drop those to the shop for sending tomorrow. I should get about £30 from them all, so that can be squirrelled away into the offset account as soon as it is opened on Monday. I just had a mad moment and pretty much cleared my upstairs bookshelf of books. I just thought to myself "why the hell am I just keeping these for the sake of it?". I also have 3 bags to go to charity.
I find that the less random stuff I have, the better I seem to feel. I definitely enjoy a more airy and less cluttered house.
I have just come over very tired all of a sudden, so I'll leave it there and go to the land of zzzzMFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

Hey Grumpyoldmoo and Moneyfordreams,
I have been using Ziffit recently, it can be used as an app on your phone or they also have a website. You don't get a massive amount for the books. I have had anywhere from 30p to £4 for a book, mostly around the 30p mark. But it's better then nothing and I don't feel so bad about getting rid of them then.MFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

So tomorrow is October....time to be SUPER good with my money and save as much as a can. I am a sucker for eating out, which depletes my bank account and adds to my increasing waist line. I need to seriously knock this on the head, as the extra weight is making my back worse. I am going to put £1 in a tub each time I go to the gym, and I am going to use this to either help pay towards a ranch riding holiday, or to buy a ticket to the equestrian events at Tokyo 2020.
On a whim I bought a euromillions ticket for Fri. I won £7.30I took out my original stake of £2.50 and the rest has gone into my change pot. I'm pretty pleased with that. I'll let the pot build up a little more before I empty it and pay the contents into my savings account, I've had quite a lot out of it over the past couple of years.
Anywho, that was my little update for today. Toodles.MFW Start:[STRIKE] Sep 2014 - £110,844[/STRIKE], July 2019 New Home £190,995

Hi all,
I hope we are all enjoying Autumn. I actually have been away in Oz with work for the last 10 days, so my body is very confused: autumn, massively hot, autumn, and I'll be going back to massively hot again soon with my next job.
My new mortgage completed whilst I was away and I've just transferred my money over into my offset savings account. I'm looking forward to putting as much money into that as I can each month.
So, my money is holding out okay this month, as apart from work expenses, no money has been spent whilst I've been away. I just have to maintain the good behaviour now that I am back on land, I'd ideally like to put at least £400 into savings at the end of this month.
I've had a payment of £18.40 from Ziffit, so that has gone into the offset acc. I have quite a few more books etc. to sell, but I need to get some more boxes for posting them in. My bookshelves are actually looking quite bare now, which is very unusual for me.
My mortgage completed on the same day they took my payment and that wasn't taken into account, so at the moment I am short of £538, eep! I need to go and have a word with Halifax about it when they open tomorrow, I am assuming that they will refund me the money via cheque, but I want to make sure it happens.
Fun afternoon of sorting paperwork ahead, so I'd better go and crack on.

I've been AWOL again, I need to stop doing that as I seem to spend more when I'm not active with my diary!
Finally the work is underway in the dining room. The new floor is down, now just need the skirting and then it can be painted. I'm very excited, but also nervous about finally having a usable dining room. I am VERY excited about the prospect of not spending out on big house projects. I had wanted to do the dining room and kitchen, but have decided that they are fine as they are for now.
I have tweaked my budget this evening, if I stick to it I should be able to save about £800 a month i to my offset, which would be amazing. Eating out really is my nemesis, so my aim is to get that under control this year.
I am looking forward to cracking on and hopefully watching my offset build!
