Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

I was a BA loyalist for years (I had a Silver card for years until I recently lost it for not travelling enough) but it is only sensible to look at other alternatives.

When flying in Europe I'm not that fussed. Cost and convenience always win over a 1-2 hour flight, though BA Club Europe is still a nice treat once in a while when I can upgrade with points.

To the USA, BA are still my first choice in Economy or Premium Economy where I totally avoid US carriers. The problem BA has is with anywhere "east of Suez" where they struggle (and mostly fail) to compete with the middle eastern and Asian airlines.

I only fly to destinations in the USA. Ten years ago we would always fly Virgin, for the last 5 years we have always flown BA, partly because their hand luggage allowance is much better than Virgin (and because they fly to many more destinations) plus T5 is by far our preferred departure arrival/departure point.
Personally, I have only encountered two 'supercilious' flight attendents on BA in the last half dozen flights (both male), generally I've found them more polite and helpful, whereas some Virgin cabin crew seemed more interested in re-doing their make up and gossiping with their colleagues.
Am flying Virgin in a couple of months, but in PE for the first time (using VAFC miles). Will be interesting to see how VA have changed in the last 5 years.

Having been caught up in the ashcloud incident at Easter 2010 I would be nervous about flying with a non-EU carrier.

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

The best airline is one which offers:
    - the route you want to fly, and
    - at the times you want to fly, and
    - the class of travel you wish to fly in, and
    - the amenities you'd like onboard, and
    - at the price you're prepared to pay.

In most cases, you have to compromise something to get a suitable fit.

Don't forget the smooth landing and reading material! ;)

was a seamless landing too i never felt a thing, unlike Ryanair where i felt everything.

An awful lot of how a landing feels is down to the prevailing weather conditions which are totally out of the control of the airline.

I wish that BA allowed you to check in online and print out boarding passes a couple of weeks before the flight instead of just 24 hours. I can do it earlier with Easyjet.

Alright, so Quatar, Cathy Pacific, Aagean and the likes are better.....thanks very much.

I thought you were comparing British Airlines, flying to Europe in 'normal cabins'?

The airline that is compatible to your departure, destination and schedules will generally be the best for you.

I'm guessing geography isn't your thing ...............but why if you intend to never fly again does it matter ?

I can't say that it has ever bothered me. With mobile boarding passes you can check-in wherever you are and there's no need to find a printer.
