Didnt understand how they can change to a "Heated" filter, does it connect to the electricity circuit?

Heated diesel filters are not a new idea.

I'm not sure about reliability but Hyundai's prices are pretty outrageous. I got a quote for the Mrs on a new i30, wrongly assuming they'd be relitively cheap, and for the prices quoted we could lease a well specced up BMW or Audi. I'm not sure why people bother with them

Were they like for like quotes.

Your post suggests you were looking to buy the i30 but lease the other 2

    Leasing takes into consideration depreciation.

BMW and Audis have fairly decent residuals due to people aspiring to buy into the brand image, but can't afford a new one, therefore there is a good demand for used ones.

One thing to point out VAG got the oil pump wrong from an engineering point of view on the 2.0tdi, BMW got the camchain engineering wrong on the 2.0diesel.

Hyundai don't actually make the clutch.

I wonder if the demographic that buys a Hyundai and specifically an i30 makes the clutch issue more prevalent?

I was looking at PCP and lease prices. Considering the Hyundai doesn't seem to do that well on the fuel, and given the apparently high depdepreciation, Hyundai seems a very expensive form of motoring

Vehicles with average or poor residuals will always be more expensive to Lease, unless a massive fleet discount is on offer for the Lease Company. I doubt Hyundai offer the kinds of discounts to Fleets that Ford and Vauxhall offer.
