I have today bought a pair of shoes from website - transport debate.co.uk. Usually I am really savvy with websites but I was so pleased that I found my size, I went ahead and bought them. It was only afterwards that I realised that it all looked 'wrong'. Have contacted my card company who have said that it is too early to do anything yet. Weird that the website address is called transport debate.co.uk and the site logo is shoe-discount. I feel quite certain that everything looks wrong. Anyone had any dealings with them? I can find not a trace of anything online regarding reviews or anything else.
You only have to look at the 'Contact Us' page.......nothing...
No email address / phone number/ business address nada / zilch.
You want to order from them !!!!!!!
Go ahead I certainly would not.

I know - I think they are dodgy as hell! I have actually just cancelled my card as a precaution. Just did not pick it up straight away. The .co.uk got me. Strange that there is absolutely nothing to find on them at all on searches. Not even any beware comments. Anyway, it is transportdebate.co.uk - will let you know how it goes. Thanks for the reply.0

I also looked again and checked whether or not it was https - the s indicating secure ath checkout. It did not have the secure s indicator. I have cancelled my card but is there anything else that I ought to be doing?0

Have you cancelled your order then?
Whois shows a registrant's name and address in Glasgow.0 -
No I have not cancelled the order but I have spoken to my card company. The transaction has gone through. I have cancelled the card and getting a new one sent out. Actually the more I think about it the more worried I become. I gave my name and address and phone number. My credit card company say not to worry, that if good s do not turn up or are wrong the I can open a dispute and get a refund. I am more worried about my computer security and identity security. What are the implications and is there anything else I should be doing?0

There is no way to cancel the order except to attempt to contact them via their website link. I have sent a message via this link asking them to cancel but I do not have high hopes. What was I thinking! Never been caught like this before.0

The .co.uk got me.
Anybody, anywhere, can buy a .co.uk domain, it's absolutely no guarantee that the owner is in the UK, as you have now found. If it's not an organisation that you already know it's down to you to check where they actually are, there will normally be clues on the website but there are plenty of other ways of investigating (for instance doing a whois check to see where the domain has been registered).0 -
I've found that the website https://www.mywot.com/ is useful for checking web sites.
This is what it says about the Grapefruit site :-
https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/www.gastronomicgrapefruit.com
However WOT uses feedback and therefore it is not always reliable for newer sites (transportdebate.co.uk does not flag anything)
Another checker is http://www.scamadviser.com/ which ranks transportdebate dodgy - New site
Another weapon for your armoury though"It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

Thanks for the replies. I am most worried about my identity being stolen. I gave name address and telephone number to them. The guy in Glasgow who it seems to be registered to - I wonder if he even knows this. I will not be caught like this again! Should I be worried about this even having stopped the card? Is there something that I can do?0

Quick update, they sent me a pair of fake shoes with broken hill which is absolutely different what I ordered and they did not include free return postage to CHINA where the goods from.
They responded me finally for first time as below, very unprofessional.
I already reported to policy fraud line and my credit card company sent me new card and declaration form which I sent back with email evidence of showing my efforts to get my money back.
As credit card company ensured that this transaction is on hold and I am not reliable for payment on this, I'm somehow relieved.
You see, how this scammer tries to steal my money even sending fake Italian shoes with full chemical smells, absolutely disgusting from China.
Well, I leant the lesson so I will be extra careful on online shopping.
@ Shoelover - sorry that this thing happen to you, too. Did you report to the police fraud line? They give you reference number and I think it's better to do so since I provided mine to the credit card company as an evidence.
I wouldn't worry too much at this stage, anyway they got my delivery address etc but what can we do? For piece of mind, I would be extra careful if any doggy thing happens around me. I hope police take further investigation and close it down the bloody website soon.
