    That's a bit of a silly post.

    If he had the surgery he would have been able to see the numbers on buses and information boards at train stations so could use public transport.

    As it is he has no car and now can't see so he's house bound because of this cruel twist of fate!

    You seem to be saying that as he hasn't had the surgery then he can't see the numbers on buses, etc.

    If that's the case, he probably shouldn't be driving, and therefore funds to repair a broken car are not an immediate problem. :D
