do I have to notify all that put money on my current account (job, tax credits, etc) that I changed my account?

I know this is well off topic, and I apologise up front, but I feel have to ask.

Whilst I think the benefits system is an important part of society and those that need help should get it, how on earth have we got to a system that pays benefits, i.e. tax credits, to those that have over £100k in cash (?) savings?

Why on earth aren't they means tested like JSA, pension credits etc.?

excuse me, do I get the free cash YES if I just open a new current account with these banks (I don't have any with them now) or I have to transfer a current account from my current bank to them? YES

if the first is the case, can I open one current account with every of these banks, then each month transfer my salary to each of these accounts for one day and thus meet the requirement of the minimum deposit per month and get the free cash? YES

One of us doesn't have a grasp of the English language.
You need to transfer an existing account using the switching service.
Nobody cares where the money comes from .
ABOVE ALL ELSE YOU NEED TO READ AND COMPREHEND THE T&C's .

Ah yes, I can switch no problem via their online banking. But to get the £100 I would need to 1) open a new account and 2) do it via MSE.

OK, I have now successfully opened a second Classic Plus, and it's showing as such on my online banking already.

The only thing as that at no point during this process did it mention the £100 bonus. I used the link from MSE.

And, though they are both listed as Classic Plus, when I click on 'Interest rates', the summary says beneath where it says 5%, 'Customers are limited to one Classic Plus account'.

So I imagine it will eventually be downgraded; but I'll wait and see!

My experience is that after I opened a second Classic Plus, the original one I had was automatically frozen, and I could not move money in or out of it until I either closed it or downgrade it to a Classic account. This was confirmed when I went into the branch. There is no red flag on the account when confused them, but the banker there knew what was up, and told me the system will do that if someone opens a second Classic Plus online.

No problems so far. I can transfer money out of and back into both, and switch money between the two accounts. Obviously, I won't know what interest rate I'm getting till 2 July.

As regards the switching bonus, I did phone up and say that nothing I had got from TSB mentioned the bonus, the lad just said I should switch and the bonus would turn up. My only other question was whether I needed to set up two new DDs or whether the two coming with my 'switched' account would suffice and he said the two with the account would be fine.
