I have Wireless-G already and it's only a question of how to cope with the wiring when there is no phone socket in the room with the main computer. I therefore see no option but to attach two phone wires from here into the bedroom0 -

*bangs head against desk*
If you have wireless already then its a case of getting a wireless adaptor for the computer in that room & connect there.
The fact is that if you're using a wireless router then theres no wires at all!
The only wires you'll have is what connects to the modem & the wireless router downstairs - That is it! No trailing wires upstairs or ones coming from different rooms!
You dont need another phone line in the property & you dont need any further installations to enable getting broadband in a different room

Please don't bang your head against anything hard
It's really very simple. I have a Wireless-G ADSL Gateway on my desk next to my main computer. There is a yellow cable which goes into the back of the Wireless-G and that also is inserted into the back of the computer. A gray wire goes from the "Line" socket at the back of the Wireless-G and goes to the splitter which is connected to my phone socket. The problem is that phone socket is not in the same room. Hence the need for a long gray wire (RJ11 is what I'm told it's called)

Mike has definitely solved the Incoming Calls only conundrum. £5.25 is the exact figure which BT gave me. So that MUST be the explanation for their attempt to mislead me. I shall be on the phone to them first thing in the morning, having already spent hours sorting out the line. What a terrible company they are
I think its more than likely, based on the number of preceeding posts, that they werent deliberately trying to mislead you, whoever you spoke to probably didnt understand what you were asking for, or you didnt understand what they were telling you re call barring.0 -

Get your existing line into the room your computer modem is in either my moving the existing line/box or run an extension from the main BT box to the room with the computer/router in.
GOT THAT? DO YOU COMPREHEND?
Now when you have done that connect a DEC phone base station with 3 or more phones to the phone line, that sorts out all the phone side with as many phones as you like up to 4-5 in any room you like.
STILL WITH ME?
Now connect up the computer to the same line using some spliter or something and connect it to the router.
ONE COMPUTER SORTED
Now any other computers must have a wireless card or adapter, get one and fit it to the other computers that need to connect to the net.
STILL WITH ME?????
ALL DONE AND NO TRAILING WIRES. (assuming you had/did a professional job with the extension)
THEN MAKE ANOTHER THREAD ON HOW TO SET THE WIRELESS SIDE UP0 -
BT BOX ------------ COMPUTER 2 ^ | ^ | ^ | BOTH CONNECTED VIA extension >>> | WIRELESS TO ROUTER/COMPUTER 1 | | | COMPUTER 3 | COMPUTER 1 DEC PHONES NOTE : WIRELESS = NO WIRES0 -
