The wires have to be in the house and make the carpet look messy!0

So, you need a cordless phone then I guess?0

I have a cordless phone :T But I need to connect my main computer to the phone socket upstairs. That means the phone and modem wires have to travel across the carpet and make a big mess. BT says that it'll cost me £168 to get an extra phone line in the house :mad:0

£168 is an extension, not a new line. A new line is £124.99.The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20

Do you really work for BT? Wow! So can you solve this whole problem? Why did they tell me last week that I CAN get incoming calls only
I have FIVE phone sockets in the house but not in the room with the PC. They want me to pay £168 for another one:mad:0 -
Why not buy a usb wireless adapter for your PC and connect to the router you said you had?
EDIT:
At the point where the main phoneline enters house why not just have Splitter/microfilter, plug router in, plug cordless phone base station into, then have a wireless usb stick for your desktop and plug in phone pods which just need a leccy supply in whichever rooms you desire a phone. Obviously your laptop can connect to the wireless too.
P.S. Having your router plug into the main phonepoint will also benefit it speed wise.0 -
I have a wireless-G ADSL Gateway (lINKSYS) connecred to my computer upstairs. But I still need to get the phone line connected to the phone socket and that means running a long wire into the bedroom plus a long modem wire as well. The house looks terrible  And all because BT lied to me about giving incoming calls only. I will be screaming at them tomorrow morning-No doubt after waiting 55 minutes again till I get through :mad:0

Do as I do. My Phone connection is downstairs but my servers are upstairs. Router is located next to the phone point, I then use Homeplug to get it upstairs to the servers (and also my daughters' bedrooms). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm not quite with it here.
If you need to connect the pc to the phoneline then surely the wireless solution is most cost-effective?0
