This post really says it all. Since the maternity benefits are the same at both companies and "admin is admin", I wouldn't worry about how long I would be in the job before getting pregnant. If you had been intending to go back to work and you're very career orientated, it would be a different scenario. The new or old company wouldn't think twice about making you redundant so don't worry about owing loyalty to anyone.
Besides, it might take 6+ months to get pregnant.0 -

Unless you know the company involved, you can't say that with confidence. I've only ever had to make one person redundant in 24 years and it was seriously difficult, it wasn't pleasant knowing that you are responsible for making someone unemployed. And certainly as a small business, I only made that person redundant because of a downturn in work - it would be lovely to pay someone for nothing, but I'd be out of business pretty quick if I did so.
As a haulier, I've only had two women ever apply for a job, so SMP is something I've no experience of. Whatever the nuts and bolts of that, the costs are in getting a new driver and the training. We are very specialist hauliers and it usually takes around 3 months to train someone up before they are fully useful to us, so if someone leaves us just after that for whatever reason, it's a costly experience.0
