Well, I'm interested now AFK!
I noticed you'd been MIA. Glad secondment went well but sorry it's ending. As for saving to overpay, rather than straight overpaying, I just send money to three regular savers each month and forget about it. Any money left at the end of the month I sweep into my 1-2-3 account for now. Once there's a bit, as interest rate is now just 1.5% I sweep an amount isn't my S &S ISA. It's really a long term investment ( think pensions  ) ok, don't think about pensions. But I can get at it if I need to.
Want to know about this secret tho.

How about just pretending you are overpaying as usual? Assuming you have spreadsheets set up, work out how long it takes you to fill 17/18's overpayment limit, then onto 18/19 etc. Rather than bringing forward the mortgage free date, aim on bringing forward the 'full by' dates.SaveA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Thank you GG.
Had to read your theory over once or twice to get the gist of itNo spreadsheets to speak of
Target date is set, so that won't be brought forward any earlier and as new deal due around Sept/Oct, wherein lies another problem. Decisions, decisions.
Have got it all worked out though, know how much I have to o/p each month to clear it by Dec '19
so far, so good.
Will do as you both suggested, and ghost o/p and put into a regular saver. There - sorted.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -

No - you didn't and you know thatAbout time you treated yourself
So when did this all happen?
I remember a while back, someone had "news" but was revealing nothing till all sorted.

The car was the end of Feb. It's very nice and a bit flashy to be honest. Lol! Yes indeed I did keep my secrets under wraps - you never know whose in here lurking, and whether they know who you are in RL.
Only about 7 weeks until summer hols for me then off for a bit of a travel

Ok AFK, I'm hijacking your thread briefly to get my thoughts in order. Please excuse/ read on / ignore as you see fit.
So I've decided before the end of term that I have a list of things I need to sort out at home. It's called the 30 minute fix list because that's about how long each will take. There are 12, so about an hour a week if I take the full six weeks. They are all " sorting" type jobs. I decided this afternoon I was tired of looking at my bookcase in the lounge stuffed to the brim with books and nic nacks so I sorted it. I have a v large bag for the charity shop and it took - 30 mins. It's been annoying me for months and all it took was 30 mins. I even moved on to throwing out all but the last twelve months of my two subscription magazines ( that sounds terrible, but they are monthly and I only had just less than the twelve months befores worth to dump). All sorted and correctly placed in under 30 mins. With music on the time flew by!
Am I the only lazy !!!!! to do this?! An hour to sort but many months of procrastinating!
Hope you had a good afternoon

Hi Bexster
You can hijack anytime when you come up with great ideas like that :T
It's very true, to say that I could look a job needing sorted for months, then when I eventually get the Up and Do, like you say could only take 30 mins to an hour. You then think - Why didn't I do that sooner
Trouble is I have loads and loads to list and as one job was completed I would probably have added 3-4 more :rotfl:
Great idea - might "steal it" but since its on my threadthink I may be allowed
Lovely afternoon - just looking at all the jobs needing doing and doing none.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Many thanks AFK. Thought I would keep you posted as I make progress ( hopefully!)
