Taking Carpet when move out

Hi
I am in the process of selling my house.
My toddlers bedroom is the only carpeted room in the house, the rest are more or less varnished boards. (The floor in his underneath the carpet is not varnished)
The carpet is practically brand new and the house we are moving to has no carpet in his soon to be bedroom.
The new room is already decorated almost the same as his current one and we would like the same carpet in it, if not similar so to keep the transition for him as seamless as possible.
Carpets etc were not listed in the description but my question is, should we take it? (We haven't filled in the details with the solicitors yet)
Has anyone else done this?
Bex

Yes we did - just made it clear on the paperwork that the carpet in one room was not included.0

Did you make it clear when the were viewing or just after when it was all going through?0 -
I've just had a form from my solicitors on which I've listed everything which is included, excluded or which will be included if the buyer is willing to pay for it. I did briefly mention I would be willing to sell fridge, washing machine, etc at the viewing.0

If it wasn't listed in the description as being included you don't have to include it. Most people would, but I doubt your purchaser is going to get too bent out of shape about a carpet in a toddler's bedroom, which I'm guessing isn't huge.
Just make sure it's clear on the PIF that you want to take it with you.Make £2026 in 2026

When it was going through - the agent did the viewings.
If our buyers had objected we'd have probably left it rather than lose the deal ( although they had beaten us down so much that I was reluctant to leave them as much as a lightbulb!)0 -

...its actually the biggest room in the house!!! (well the biggest bedroom anyway)0 -
Your solicitor will get you to fill in a Fixtures and Fittings form which is then sent to your buyer. It forms part of the contract. For each room, you'll tick whether the carpet, curtains, light fittings, etc., are staying or going. Just make sure you fill it in correctly - if you take something that you say on the form you'll leave then the buyer can (in theory) pursue you.
The Fixtures and Fittings form is actually the thing that matters - EA listing details have disclaimers and aren't meant to be relied on. F&F is a legal document.
Your buyer will probably feel put out because most people leave carpets these days, but if it's just one room (and a bedroom at that) hopefully won't object. If they're feeling particularly awkward, they might try and knock a few hundred quid off the price to replace the carpet but you can always say no.
We got a shock when we received the F&F form for the house we bought last year as it emerged that the vendor was taking almost all of the curtains. Stupidly, with every other house I've bought I've said as part of my offer that I wanted the carpets and curtains and forgot to this time. The house had lovely, high quality, made to measure curtains when we viewed.

Thanks for the info..
I have never left curtains when we've left a house, only made to measure blinds! Wouldn't have even thought to do that
Although that said in this house we may, as we have huge bay windows and would be far to big for the new place. 0 -
It would be helpful to tell viewers that the carpet is not staying.0

We only just thought of it, so too late now!
May ask the buyers if they'd be hugely upset if we take it and go from there.. feel a bit mean taking it, but it's a cost I'd really rather not have when we move !0
