I didn't express a view on whether its "A Good Thing" or "A Bad Thing" - I just mentioned the possibility. I doubt anyone is going to make the FIT scheme a major consideration in reaching whatever decision they do.NE Derbyshire.4kWp S Facing 17.5deg slope (dormer roof).24kWh of Pylontech batteries with Lux controller BEV : Hyundai Ioniq50 -
, they have a SCAM where the salesman tells you the proposed earning figure however this is over promised by 13 times of the actual you will earn from the Government Backed scheme. You only have 14 days to work this out otherwise you are stuck with the Solar Panels and them not earning what Project Solar promised. The HIES is a guarantee, but it is only for the workmanship during the installation and not covering the salesman's LIES. Before the installation I had to force them to send me the earnings document which I later found was the only proof the salesman had LIED, as the document held by Project Solar showed the correct figure. Again DO NOT USE PROJECT SOLAR it is a SCAM.0

Hi. I have had a Project Solar salesman visit me a couple of days ago and signed up to having 14 panels. I have been waiting for him to send me the full details of my order with a full breakdown of what the benefits will be. The total cost of the panels etc was £9565 but over 180 months turns into £18,340. I take it from these posts that they are a scamming company? I have read some other reviews that are mostly positive so I wanted to know if I should cancel and if so what other companies do you recommend?0

Hiya, welcome and cancel.
Ideally you want aim for about £5k for a 4kWp system, and avoid financing which makes it almost impossible to get your money back.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Get out right now. As Martyn says this is far too expensive and can't possibly pay for itself.

those of you suggesting £4-£5k for a 4kvp 14 panel installation: could you please PM me supplier names please? I've had a visit from project solar today who as expected are giving me a £9.5k quote.

Hiya, I think it's a case of shopping round and haggling. You can try some more general sites like compare my solar, I checked and found a couple at around £5k, but you will need to check references etc.
The current lack of competition (too many businesses have closed) and lack of a large supply chain (less imports, wholesalers etc) mean prices are higher, but £5k may still be possible if you haggle.
Don't worry about Chinese panels, this is typically a way to scare people .... we don't use cheap and inefficient Chinese panels ...... well, most panels are Chinese and if you have 4kWp of panels on your roof, then they are the same output as any other 4kWp of panels. More efficient panels just means that the 4kWp would take up less roof space.
If you want to PM me I can give you the name of the company that did an upgrade on my system this year. I don't want to openly post as I'm worried it might seem like advertising, and I genuinely know no more than any other PV'er on here.
Only half a recommendation as it wasn't a full PV install, so can't really say if they are good or bad, but they were professional. They'll probably quote about £6k for a 4kWp system with SolarEdge (high efficiency and 20yr warranty on the inverter). Hopefully you can haggle down a bit from there?
Edit - some of my comments may seem odd, but I was concerned about a post that looks to have been deleted whilst I was writing this one up. Well done MSE.Mart. I think the ever falling costs notion is unravelling.
Some component costs yes but offset by bigger uplifts in labour and margin.
Throw in a slate roof to be fixed over and 4kw systems are going to be at least £6k.16 265w panels South facing, 45 degrees, West Norfolk.0 -
I used a firm in Midlands for both of my installs. Looking at their website the other week (though not paying particular attention to details) I think a 4kWp install from them was around £4k. I might be wrong and they might not travel so far but worth researching... PM me if you are interested0

We used a company in Cheltenham for our Solar PV & a company near Exeter to install our Air Conditioner/Heat pump (but they also install Solar PV and are prepared to travel).
Both quote under £6k for a 4kWp system with Solaredge. PM me if you want company names.0
