On the way to work this morning heard a knocking from drivers side front wheel. Was close to my local garage so got them to have a quick look, they said track rod end gone but ok to drive till the boss gets back tuesday.

Driving home tonight and the noise was getting worse, so pulled over and checked the wheel, everything the same as the morning. Drove a nother mile and noise is getting even worse, go to pull over and the wheel fell off

BUT, it wasn't the drivers side it was the near side, no wonder we couldn't find anything wrong :o

Only had 4 tyres fitted 2 weeks ago, had a look and it looks like they have cross threaded the wheel nuts

Wheel knackered, disc brake knackered, wing knackered and probably other stuff where the suspension hit the floor.

Only found 1 wheel nut on the road, but had spares in the boot to get the car home.

Damage done to the wing where the wheel hit it

That is awful. Could have had a nastier outcome for you, which I am so glad it did not.

OMG - this is awful, asked OH and he said if you had the other wheel nut then you could prove to the garage fitting the tyres what had happened. Have you spoken to them yet?
What is your insurance company saying or have you spoken to them yet?

My eldests sons claim is costing him at least one year of his no claims, possibly 2 so it's putting another £162 onto his next years insurance, due to renew on July 20th plus the £325 excess - that us if its not scrapped as being too expensive to repair.
I don't think you can protect your no claims until year 3 - now I've said that I am doubting myself and need to check if that's correct, must be eldest child's 3rd year.
son also had 4 new tyres fitted but it didn't stop him sliding on a wet patch of road last night ....
