For star gazers, I read earlier that Jupiter and Venus(?) will appear almost aligned tonight (though millions of miles apart, obviously). Stupid question - are the brightest stars that you can see in the sky the planets nearest to us? I do have Star Chart app but cannot make sense of it .

If I look W/NW 283 degrees now there is a really bright star and another smaller one above it to the left - is that it?

The images (and some meta data if you look at the html) on tesco website have the BC in the url, open the image in a new tab and pop the numbers into a barcode generator (last digit is checksum digit which some barcode generators calculate automatically)
