This is the sort of mad preposterous bizarre and unreal situation that happens to me on a daily basis - not safe to be left in the house and I def not safe to be let loose ..

It's like living in a really badly written soap written by the most junior of copy writers barely out of uni :rotfl:

Hi bubbs, how was Yarmouth? Hope you had good weather and had a lovely time. :)

Hospital was a bit of a saga. In fact the story reminds me of mhoc, as I do so like her stories of things, but she tells them much better than me.

I will share (bore!) you all with it anyway.........!

Get to hospital, need the loo (no surprise there :p) so ask at reception if I need to do a urine sample as part of my pre-op. Apparently I do, so am handed a tiny sample pot. Explain that I cannot use that, as I use catheters, and without oversharing too much, its a 2 handed job! :rotfl:

Receptionist goes to ask nurse, and comes back with a jug. Explain I still can't use that for same reason as before. Receptionist looks perplexed, and goes to fetch nurse.

Nurse asks what the problem is. I explain, and ask if they have one of those cardboard sick bowls, as I can place that in the toilet, pee into it, then transfer into pot. Apparently they don't hold those in the pre-op department, she would need to ask someone to go to another part of the hospital, but everyone is busy.

I offer to go. She looks at me like I'm crackers and says she doesn't think the ward will give anything to me, but I can try. Off I go to the ward I'm directed to, collar a nurse, explain the issue and am handed what I need with no problem.

I return to pre-op, my nurse looks amazed, collect my pot, and off I go and produce required sample. However, there is no clinical waste bin in the toilet, and clearly the bowl is too big for the sanitary bin. So, I take it with me, back to my nurse, and ask if she can put it in the clinical waste bin in her room. Except apparently its the wrong waste bin, so it can't go in there. She reluctantly takes it off me, goes wandering about outside, can't find the bin she needs, so eventually comes back in and puts it on top of her clinical waste bin, where it sits whilst she does all my other tests. No idea what she did with it when I was gone.

Oh, and after all this she tells me that if they had known I used catheters and it was such an issue, I could have done a sample at home and brought it with me (that would have been nice on the train!). Never mind that it is all over their system that I use them. Honestly, you couldn't make it up.

It nearly blew her mind when I told her she needed to note on my sample that it would always show positive for infection as there is permanent e-coli in my bladder due to it being augmented with bowel. Luckily I bought my consultants letter with me which explains it, so she took a copy, as well as copying it down word for word in the pre-op booklet they go through.

Anyway, sorry if that bored you all silly! :D :rotfl:

    Evening all.
Been awol:o, with a bit of lurking in between a busy r l.
I got back from my hols and had to organise my Mum's final bits and pieces for her trip leaving a week after I got back. Why are the 'olds' so difficult to please:mad:

I've had a couple of coffee/shopping meets with VT, had a failed Baco bags shop with her:o, and another lovely pedicure. I don't know if she told you, but we're off for a spa day in July. I'm really looking forward to it, as it's something I have never done before.

I'm totally out of the loop with what's glitching/coupons etc, but we've been living off the stash;), with the odd whoopsie run, and some bits from Aldi.

The microwave packed up mid use on Friday, so I hunted for a new one, mse style, and came across a combi, featuring a microwave/grill/convection oven on Amazon.
For anyone who is looking for one it's a Russell Hobbs RHM3003B 30 Litre Black Digital Microwave With Grill & Convection, price £74.99. It's well over £100 elsewhere, so really pleased. Good service from Amazon too as I ordered on Friday and it arrived Sunday morning.:j

I must say big congrats to Mrs stinky on producing such a lovely baby boy. I hope you are both well.
Birthday greetings to those I've missed

I skimmed over the posts that seemed a bit
Thanks to henlans for the thread, as I don't think I've posted since it started. Not for any other reason than real life getting in the way. My take on things is that we should skim over anything that offends us, take a deep breath, and think before posting anything that may prove controversial. If you dislike what someone posts, or a particular person winds you up, put them on ignore. I haven't got anyone on ignore, I'm too nosy :rotfl:

I've taken my early retirement as I think I said before. I've gone back to work two days a week, fixed days and fixed shifts. I have decided that my free time is going to include doing lots of things just for me, things I could never do when the boys were little, when I worked so many hours doing crappy shifts and money was so scarce.

Wow, just read my post, and it's a bit on the long side.:o Sorry about that.
    Hope you are all well.

It's under "Tax reliefs" and then there is a section called "Charitable Giving". You put it in there.

Thank you - I really ought to just get on with it - miserable enough this week so tackling the short tax firm will make no difference :D

And I need to start negotiations with sky ...
