The vintage cars are great, and certainly something that would be of interest....I suspect though that the insurance premium rockets for us because we dont live in a rural and very beautiful part of the country.....

I think I havent done too bad...the initial premium on a provisional licence has come in at almost £600...all things considered...

I understand that a vintage aston martin would be a very suitable car........!!!!!!
Although being serious yes vintage is a very good alternative and for a while he did consider a very nice mini.

DH's pride and joy is a vintage car that hardly ever comes out of the garage but the insurance is really cheap and some are tax exempt too

Ds2 is also tax exempt and also his pride and joy. He has 3 cars. And hated driving a new car while learning he says they don't have the same character

Oh yes we're all on the policy...and we must be cut from the same cloth,a student at college living at home is a better risk than a university student living at home which it seemed to default to first of all,so I phoned and amended that and £50 came off the policy.
What I also found interesting was playing around with the excess didnt acutally reduce the premium so I left that as the presets...although you would assume that a higher voluntary excess would reduce it.
Black box will be installed within 10 days.....ds1 thinks thats a brilliant bit of kit...I'm just concerned it will pick up mine and his dads bad driving habits!!!!

Edited to add..its an admiral policy and with black box you cant do a multi car apparently.

Also have a look at the mileage. For eldest son I initially put 5,O00 as his annual mileage but then when I upped it to 6,000 it dropped a bit - about £50 - we wondered if someone doing 5k was not an experienced driver, just weekends so more likely to have an incident but a driver doing 6K would be driving routinely and more experienced and aware - just a theory

Very glad we did put the higher figure - since then he now has a GF and he does long distances just for love :D
July will mean a very complicated sun - current mileage minus original mileage divided by 6 and then that figure multiplied by 10 as he will be away for a few months on exercise again.

    That's sounds familiar :)

I've just got my first car that's tax exempt and is eco flex, it's taking some getting used to though, it's a bit odd when the engine cuts out to save fuel at traffic lights and things!
