Holiday Inn taken money from my account without permission

You need the hotel room, they have some reason or another to take from your account, (my money is on the partner having a hand in it) so the room is now paid for. Why cant you just get the money off the partner and alls good?
As it is you have now burned your bridges with that hotel, better look for somewhere else.0 -
Naturally you are indignant that money has somehow been taken from your account for a booking you did not make. But think about it, for a minute.
How on earth would an IT system match your account to your partners and deduct the money from your account not theirs, unless it has some information held on line to link the two of you together. You need to identify that link and break it.
A thought occurs, do you have any special sort of points or regular guest discount club of which you are both members and share an address. Maybe your partner booked using your club number not theirs and it picked up your account details. There has to be a link somewhere for it to have happened.0 -

That's the Priority Club question that was asked earlier (and which I don't think the OP has answered).0 -
Just ask your boyfriend for the money ?0
-
Why??
As stated in the first post " have called my bank who have recalled the money"0 -
Is the room just for your boyfriend or is it for both of you? If the latter then whilst there has obviously been a mix up somewhere I can't really see why there is such a need to get all hot and bothered over it, its not as if they have taken money from your account for a random booking at a different hotel at a different time for a person completely unknown to you.0

I think people are being a little harsh here.
It sounds like the OP has previously booked a hotel room in the past, but the hotel have kept card details without permission. Her OH then used his CC to book a room, and no doubt gave his name and address. the hotel them matched this to a previous booking, and instead of charging his cc, charged the previous method of payment.
This is not on, and the OP is more than entitled to an apology and an investigation into why this happened.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I agree - if that is what has happened.
I'm not convinced that it did happen like that though.0 -
I think the question is why did the OP's bank allow the transaction without the CCV code.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

To be clear, was the money really debited from the OP's bank account or their credit card?
If its from their bank account then there is no easy explanation.
If it's from their credit card AND the OP is a member of IHG Rewards then the OP should go to this page and delete their card to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Personally I keep my card their because it means I often don't have to queue/make a deposit at check-in (priority club meant no queuing at check-in mostly) and I do it often enough the saving is worth it.
The other thing to note is if the rate was pre-paid then it would be billed to the card before arrival at the hotel. If it wasn't prepaid then it would be authorised at check-out. Either way checkout will result in an invoice being produced, and seeing that, plus the reservation would be very likely to solve the "mystery" here.
One other thing to keep in mind (unrelated to the OP's issue) is IHG Rewards online is only protected by a 4 digit pin number, which looks somewhat backwards as far as security is concerned.0
