A warning if you have an Orange mobile contract

They have just started charging for SMS delivery reports, only 0.09p each, admittedly, but they haven't publicised it!
I rang them and have got 84p off my bill as a refund for what they charged me. I've turned off the delivery reports too via my handset.
It's not on in my book, giving out free SMSs to everyone and then clawing back the money by charging for reports
HTH someone.

They weren't charging anything in April. Is this on all tariffs?

It took me over 45 minutes of fierce argument to get the £3.60 refunded that I had in delivery reports.
It's the principle though.0 -
I started my Orange contract 11 months ago and I wouldn't have noticed i was getting charged for the delivery reports until one of the post sales team pointed it out on a courtesy call which was fairly decent of them to be honest!0

Ah ok thanks.
this was one of the things I hated with O2 amongst other things, no delivery reports. It was only until I had them again after moving to T-Mobile last week that I realised how much I'd missed them. And they really saved me this week - had to text my notetaker who often has her phone out of credit/off/elsewhere, at least I knew she'd got the message. I also tried to text another person urgently, turned out I had the wrong number, I'd never have known if the report hadn't come back failed. I was able to call someone else and get the problem fixed so thanks T-Mobile for having this facility.

For those of you who have O2, to get a delivery report for a text message you sent. Start off the message you want to send with: *0#
So if you want to send: Hey, how are you doing today?
You would put: *0#Hey, how are you doing today?
Then you would get the delivery report. Hope that is of help to someone.0 -

yes but this costs you a standard message or come out of your allowence ie the example you used would cost 20p or 2 free messagesWho needs a sig!!! :rotfl:0 -
Orange only introduced this initially to the "animal" tarriffs, so if you are on an older package, this may only just have been introduced.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
