My GUESS it that they have some problem with the new data flows associated with cancelling a CoS, but this went live at the start of the year so they really have sorted it by now. Try and push them on what the problem is and pm me before Wednesday morning whag they say.

I have sent you a PM.

e mail received today giving me direct debit details. As soon as the dd appears on my bank list then I will cancel it. Perhaps that will make ovo get their act in gear re my file. Maybe they will even phone me

    another case for watchdog perhaps

I have been on the phone to ovo and now have an erroneous transfer to take 12-17 weeks and I will be charged by my previous supplier. If my tariff goes up than I will have a lot more to say to ovo. I cancelled the dd formally by phone and apparently it was cancelled by them just now too but I am still watching like a hawk

They say that there was no computer glitch and that my previous supplier would not allow me to cancel

I spoke to them earlier this morning and I was assured that my DD had been cancelled and that the erroneous transfer dept. was dealing with my case. I have just got the same email as you and rung them again. I was assured that it was just an auto message sent out before today and that I could disregard it. I told her that I had cancelled my own DD online but she suggested that I contact my bank to check that it was definitely cancelled.
I also got in touch with my current provider this morning and their ET office will contact Ovo. They had never heard of anything like this happening before.
If you want, I can send you a PM with the explanation for the technical failure which I received this morning

Our messages have crossed paths. I was definitely told that there was a technical problem.

I had intended to switch from my current provider but changed my mind. I contacted Ovo within the cooling off period but they won't do it. They acknowledge that I am still in time to cancel but give the following reason.

    1. They have adopted an express processing system which is new to them. I Had no idea of this.

    2. They have a technical problem which means that they can't cancel in the usual way.

Has anyone else had this? Is the 'technical problem' just a weak excuse?

My cooling off period is until next Monday.

Speak to your current supplier :)

I bounced the dd e mail back to ovo and just received one from the same person I spoke with on saturday. He said I have definitely cancelled and the dd is cancelled and I should not have had the dd e mail.

You could tear your hair out with frustration at ovo. Individuals are certainly nice but they have a major internal dept communication problem. I would never go with them after this fiasco

No neither will I! I agree that the individuals have been very helpful and I don't blame them. They seem to be carrying the buck for someone higher up. I will send you the PM before I leave work today. I need to copy it from my gmail account. Before trying Ovo, I read good reviews of them on MSE and in Which. I am going to email Which to ask if they are aware of this issue.
