To resolve an agreed ET should not take that long.
What is your Supply Start Date with Ovo?
A switch no longer takes 6 weeks it takes 2 weeks plus 3 working days from the day you apply to switch. It may take longrr than that for you to get the final bill from your old supplier but that isn't so relevant as you're with the supplief you want to be.

The supply start date is June 12th. You can see in my quote that I was told that I could reduce the 17 weeks if I applied to a different provider. I replied to Ovo on Friday to ask if i could just apply to the current provider but the new tariff. Now I am thinking that i should just tell them to proceed with the ET and also tell them that I have cancelled the new DD which they have set up (since I don't have to pay them anything with the ET). I haven't actually cancelled it yet but can do so.

Are they just saying 17 weeks to frighten people off and cover their own errors? They told me that ET was a much more complicated process when I challenged it. I haven't done a change to a completely new provider for several years. I have moved to new fixed contracts but under the hat of SSE

The date on the letter informing me about the cooling cut off date was 21st may. They said my cut off date was 20th may.:rotfl:

I am def cancelling my dd if it appears, it will give me a bit of leverage

Do that and you risk being defaulted to Standard tariff, as you may be in breach of the T&C's, should payment be required by DD.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Why when she cancelled before the end of the cooling off period (as I have too)?

So when was the corrected/amended cut off date? My official start date is only 4 days after the cut off date.

Thanks for your help Spiro. I have emailed Ovo again to confirm that I want them to do the erroneous transfer so I hope that you are right about it not taking 17 weeks. When I first contacted them to cancel nearly a week ago, I wasn't told of any problem. Luckily i logged into my account to check that it had been completed but it was still live. Only then was i told about this 'technical problem'. Have you any idea what the problem might be?

no. I have evidence of all correspondence plus dates. Right is on my side. Ovo will have to whistle for any money from me

My GUESS it that they have some problem with the new data flows associated with cancelling a CoS, but this went live at the start of the year so they really have sorted it by now. Try and push them on what the problem is and pm me before Wednesday morning whag they say.

I have added to the email sent to Ovo earlier to say that I want a better explanation. As I pointed out to them last week "If your holiday flight were cancelled due to a plane technical fault, you would want to know more".
Ovo should have informed clients of the faster processing in their first email. I wonder just how many people have been caught up in this.
I will pm you when I know anything
