O/S Daily Thread Friday 5th June

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning all
I've been up since 4, can't sleep, it's hubby's interview this morning, he's like a bear with a sore head & has been most of the week, he hates interviews.
I shall feed the fish in a sec & make a cuppa, I need to find hubby an umbrella as it's threatening to rain today & he won't want to arrive looking like a drowned rat.
If he doesn't get the jot he's going to be so disappointed, if he does, life if going to be hell on wheels for the next 3 to 6 months.
Hey ho, what will be, will be.
I would appreciate any kind thought regarding my stress levels because either way I'm going to be getting a lot of grief, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning

Thank you Hester, another one here up bright and early. The cat decided she wanted her breakfast early so Himself is still fast asleep and I am quietly surfing.

It doesn't look quite so bright today, but we need to pop out for a few things and another tin of paint for the doors. I don't suppose Himself will start them until next week though.

Jackie I hope you are home and able to read along and healing well. You are missed for your entertaining posts.

Sending special love and hugs to Lyn and He Who Knows.

Judi hugs to you as well, even with the dreadful disease, your Mum still has her lucid moments re brother's wife/partner. Obviously there is something in the back of her mind that knows she doesn't like her.

    Have a good day all

Hester sending good vibes to DH and yourself. I think as we become older the less we like job interviews, but if he really wants it I am sure he will do well.

Will be thinking of you both

  • We sadly lost our boy yesterday afternoon, poor Docky had a crisis on Wednesday night and again yesterday morning and went to sleep very gently and peacefully under my hand. He was a good boy and we'll miss him, Lyn xxx.

Lyn, your boy knew how much he was loved, you gave him a wonderful life, and in return he gave you unconditionl love and devotion.

He has now crossed the rainbow bridge and is playing with all his friends.

    Much love

    Morning everyone

MrsLurchwalker – so sorry to hear your news, thinking of you and Mr L x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy but dry. Sunshine and showers are forecast for us today, we’ll see, I hope I don’t get as wet today as I did last week when the heavens opened whilst I was in the supermarket without a coat, but struggled to push a trolley and hold umbrella in the wind!

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, carrots, broccoli and gravy – all eaten and enjoyed, ice cream for dessert for those that had room. Tonight will be disjointed due to going away – boys and I will eat early, they’ll have pizza and chips, I’ll have jacket potato and salad, DH will eat once we get on site tonight.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, washing, drying and ironing done, basket was empty – now have a small load in the WM! All beds were stripped, bedding washed and line dried. Housework done, sorted more stuff for yard sale, took some bags of rubbish to the recycling centre.

Today I have the normal chores to do, this morning I will be going to town, visiting the bank, DS1 has asked if I could get him some shorts to wear for work, so will see what I can find whilst in the town this morning. I need to do the food shopping too. When I get back I need to pack. If time allows I’ll do some sort of cooking/baking.

    Have good Fridays’ everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

Morning all, but first of all my heartfelt sympathy to Mrs LW. You did all you could for Docky and gave him a wonderful life. We have lost 3 doggies over the years so can fully understand just how you are feeling.

The two youngest DGDs have been up since 5.45 but fortunately they are sitting quietly watching NickJr and drawing at the same time! The eldest will be to waken up as usual. Can't get her to bed and then can't get her up next morning!

It's looking rather cloudy today but as I've only plans for the Friday clean I don't suppose it matters! Despite being away at the 'van for a few days the dust still accumulates and the DGDs ensure there are lots of bits to vac up!

Hope today goes well for DH HESTER and good luck whatever the outcome! ((((((HUGS))))))) to all else in need of one. Have a good day if you can and take care whatever you are doing xx

    Hi all,

Lyn - so sorry to hear your news, you could not have done more for Docky xx

Hester - Fingers crossed for Hubby X

Jackie O - Hope your feeling strong enough to pop back here soon, raining here, just getting things washed and sparkled for your visit x

Taking MIL shopping late morning, but Thunder storms predicted, so might get rained off - plan B is a bit of a pamper session, bubble bath, paint nails etc - I know which option a I'm hoping for ;)
