Unbelievable!
A bank sends an email to colleague of yours (whom they just so happen to know the contact details of as well!) asking for the personal contact details of another person and for the data to be provided all by email?
Frankly this is a wind up somewhere
No UK bank would EVER ask for details to be provided by email0 -
They seemed as powerless as me to insist their bank release the payment. They spoke to their business manager who was ineffectual. Emails and phone calls from both myself and my employer had no effect.0

Believe me, it's not a windup. As I say, one of the payments has come through this afternoon, the salary one. My work expenses payment has yet to be paid. I have no explanation for the delay. I will take some legal advice and update the posting when I get any news. Clearly this seems a rather unique event.... my question is, why did it happen to me and why did it happen at all!0

Perhaps your employer should change banks.....
Have you asked for an explanation in writing?0 -
I have literally never heard of the beneficiary of a payment being asked to contact the paying bank to confirm personal information. Ever.
If the paying bank wants information about you, they should be asking the people who are sending the payment. They have no business contacting you.urs sinserly,

agreed. this is a very strange tale.
CMoCupcake is telling us that he/she is having to provide information to a bank with which they have no direct relationship, which doesn't seem right to me at all.
the only thing i can think is that the employer is struggling to meet their obligations, but even that doesn't explain the above.0 -
How the hell are the transmitting bank going to confirm any details given to them?0
