It all depends where she is based? East cost is a lot cheaper than west coast.
  • Last minute Orlando charter flights outside of school holidays can be quite cheap.

Either that or Norwegian airlines from Gatwick booked much time in advance.

If she can meet you in New York you could get some good deals up. Anywhere else generally and you'll probably be talking about 2 plus flights adding to the cost

  • Thanks for the replies. Nice active forum here. She lives in North Carolina (east coast). Raleigh–Durham International Airport is where i would be heading. I'm seeing return prices around £600 in October (when i intend to go) which i don't think is too bad considering i've seen some twice that which would not be affordable. My accommodation is free if i can get there.

It's the first time i've been abroad by myself so it's quite confusing but i'm getting there. I'll be glad to get the first visit over with so i know what i'm doing exactly.

    Thanks again.

Have you tried Skyscanner? It lets you see prices across a month

e.g. I quickly found you could fly out on 2nd of October, return on the 10th, and it would cost £573. Flying American airlines, one change at JFK. Fly in and out of Heathrow.

BTW - they are stupidly friendly over in the States, and as long as you are friendly and polite it's a great place to visit.

BTW - it's only £365 to get to JFK in New York - i wonder if you could split the ticket properly and save some money. In the USA there's meant to be some great tricks for buying cheaper internal flights

It will be cheaper buying return flights State side, rather than here in the UK.

If you don't mind going around the houses, you can do it(RDU) for £500.

Go to the Raleigh-Durham airport website and see which budget airlines fly from there to the major hubs serving the UK.
Then work out the cheapest fares from the UK to those hubs.
You could even pick up a cheapo Monarch or Thompson flight to Orlando Sanford and make your way locally to North Carolina.

What makes you say that ?
Easy enough to access US travel sites and pay in dollars on the net but it isn't always cheaper that way.
