My parents aren't that financially secure, they didn't provide for me whilst I was at University, and I didn't expect them to - they've got their own things to pay really.

Offer to do the housework in lieu of keep while you are out-of-work and be very frugal with the heating and electricity so that you don't increase their bills.

It doesn't cost very much to feed one extra person.

Get in touch with some temp agencies my two both got jobs within a few days of signing up, might not be your first choice and might not be using your degree but it is ready cash which will tide you over until you get a graduate job and employers prefer to see that someone has done something rather than nothing..

    Thanks, it's appreciated.

I've applied for some graduate agencies, but haven't looked into temp agencies as of yet. I'll have a look into it.

Sounds promising, hopefully it'll turn out for the best.

I'll go the Jobcentre / citizens advice tomorrow and see if they can do anything - even if it is to help me find a job without claiming.

    Cheers guys.

I agree with looking into doing some temping work. They also have the advantage of often paying weekly (a week in hand).

I do not know about UC and students in your circumstances (and can find nothing useful online) but for JSA purposes your final loan is deemed to end on the last day of your course (date should be on uni's website)

    Read here:

    https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/419800/dmgch30.pdf

    30303 onwards

So, do pop in to CAB and ask about this.

Having said that I agree absolutely with other posters about finding any work you can. Claiming UC is not much fun and demands a lot.

When my daughter finished uni she walked the streets in our nearest large town/city with her CV. Times have changed, I know, but agencies will be your best bet.

My daughter ended up working for an agency at a temporary post, was then taken on full time and has never looked back.

I am sure you are very proud of what you have achieved but unfortunately you have to take anything you can to get money and then search for your perfect job. Not a time to be fussy (I'm sure you realise that!)

    Good luck!
