Benefits after University

Hi guys,
I'm just wondering if anyone could shred some light on applying for benefits after University?
Believe me, the last thing I wanted to do is apply for any form of benefits, but to be honest, I've been at University for 4 years, I've had a part time job for 2/4 of those years and I'm still skint right now.
I've fully left my 4 year course, I did it in Sheffield, and I have moved back to Liverpool. I have been applying for graduate jobs, and have an Interview tomorrow. But as a safety blanket, I'm wondering what benefits I am entitled to? I tried to apply for Universal Credit (as I apparently live in a UC area), but was rejected as they said that my student loan should cover me for up to September. Which at this rate, is absolutely impossible, as most of my recent student loan payment went on rent, and bills.
Surely there must be something I can apply for? As I have bills to pay out, and I understand that my parent's don't expect me to stay at home for free as I've now finished.
Please don't judge me, and please refrain from saying sly comments, and keep them to yourself if you've got something bad to say.
This is honestly the last thing I wanted to resort to, I actually want to contribute and work. I am actually an outgoing, and hard working person.
Thanks in advance,
Peter.

Can your parents lend you some money until you get a job?
Or is an evening /weekend job (bar work/ restaurant etc ) a possibility until you are more financially secure?0 -
Get any job while you're still applying for the graduate jobs. Supermarkets are probably your best bet.0

My parents aren't that financially secure, they didn't provide for me whilst I was at University, and I didn't expect them to - they've got their own things to pay really.
Believe me, I've been applying for everywhere, and possible opportunity within the Liverpool area has been applied for - bookies, bars, hotels, retail shops, etc.
It sucks. I've had call backs, and a lot of graduate jobs require a driving license, which unfortunately I haven't got.

was your student loan the same this year as the other years? I thought the finance in the final year was lower as it covered you till end of term rather than right through till the start of the next termPeteLanceley wrote: »rejected as they said that my student loan should cover me for up to September. Lovinituk, I've done that as well.
I've applied online at my local Tesco, but haven't had a reply as of yet.0 -
What about Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury, etc. Then there's loads of other large retailers, B&Q, Homebase, Wickes, PC World, Toys'R'Us.... the list is endless.PeteLanceley wrote: »Lovinituk, I've done that as well.

Walk down the high street and ask in every shop.
Local factories.

I think my final payment was around £2,000, £1,200 of that went on rent. The rest was to survive on. I have about £300 left.
I was just told on the phone that I couldn't apply for Universal Credit until September (hoping that this isn't the case in September) but a bit of financial security would be good until I did find a part/full time job.0 -

I can only do on-line applications. I've gone into loads of stores, and retail parks and they just say "apply online", if there isn't an application online, I can't apply. Simple as that really.0 -
I guess things will be tight financially until September then.0
